Each sample is a real reservation. Names, booking references, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and barcodes have been removed and a SAMPLE mark added, so the documents cannot be reused. Your own reservation shows your name as on your passport and a live booking reference.

Why the samples look different from each other

There is no single "dummy ticket format". The document you receive depends on the airline and on how that airline shows a reservation:

  • Airline itinerary e-mail — the confirmation the airline itself sends, as in the Emirates sample.
  • Manage-booking or trip-summary page — the airline website's own view of the reservation, as in the Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM, Thai Airways and Delta samples.
  • Booking itinerary — a one-page itinerary listing passengers, flights, baggage and the airline PNR, as in the Etihad, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair and United samples.

What matters is the booking referenceWhatever the layout, the part a visa officer or airline can check is the booking reference (PNR). Enter it with the passenger's surname on the airline's "Manage booking" page and the same flights should appear. See how to verify a dummy ticket before submission.

What every dummy ticket shows

  • Passenger name — exactly as you enter it, which should match your passport.
  • Booking reference (PNR) — the six-character code for checking the reservation on the airline's website.
  • Airline and flight numbers — for example EK 514 or QR 1185, with the operating carrier.
  • Route, dates and times — departure and arrival airports with terminals where the airline lists them.
  • Class of travel and baggage — where the airline includes them.

Hotel booking sample
