Dummy Ticket for Visa in Darbhanga: Which Consulate and Visa Centre Serves Mithila Applicants

There is no embassy, consulate or visa application centre in Darbhanga, so residents of Mithila submit in a bigger city, usually Kolkata, which is the consular seat for Bihar for the US, Germany, Italy, France and Japan. Spain handles Bihar from New Delhi. From us, a held booking carrying a live PNR is ₹699 a traveller, payable by UPI.

People in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur and Sitamarhi ask us the same thing every week: where do I actually hand in my visa file? The honest answer is not in Darbhanga. None of the missions we checked runs a desk or a visa centre anywhere in Bihar, so a Schengen, Japan or US application from Mithila means a trip, usually to Kolkata and occasionally to Delhi. This page sorts out which city each country uses, what its checklist says about flights, and how to time a reservation around that journey. We are an online service; nobody from DummyTicketPrice sits in Darbhanga, and you never need to visit us.

Which city handles a visa file from Darbhanga?

For most countries, Kolkata. The US, German, Italian, French and Japanese posts there all list Bihar inside their district.[2][4][7][10][11] That is convenient in one sense: a single overnight journey to Howrah, or a short IndiGo hop from DBR, gets you to the city that matters for five major destinations.

Spain is the exception that trips people up. Its jurisdiction rules put Bihar under the Embassy in New Delhi, yet BLS lists a Spanish application centre in Kolkata as well.[13] In practice you may submit at the Kolkata centre, but the file is judged against Delhi's checklist, so read that one. BLS adds a residence test: Spain looks at where you have actually lived these last six months, whatever the passport's address page says.[13] That matters for the many Darbhanga families whose passports still show a village address while they actually live in Patna, Delhi or Bengaluru.

The UK is the other awkward case. VFS published its list of twelve premium UK centres in May 2026, and none is in Bihar; the closest are Lucknow, Noida, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati.[15] We could not open VFS's standard centre list this month, so check it when you apply online. Either way, plan on leaving the state for your biometrics.

What do the checklists used by Bihar applicants say about flights?

They differ more than people expect. Here are the lines we found on official pages, side by side.

DestinationWhere a Darbhanga resident appliesWording on flightsWhat we would do
Germany (Schengen)VFS anywhere in India, file sent to Mumbai[5]Item 11 simply says "Flight reservation"; paying for a fare early speeds nothing up[6]Our held booking suits it
ItalyKolkata consulate, lodged through VFS[7][9]Prefers flights "fully paid and confirmed"[8]Lean towards a changeable fare
SpainEmbassy New Delhi; BLS Kolkata centre[13]"Flight bookings (roundtrip)" and advice not to buy until the visa is granted[14]Held reservation
NetherlandsVFS in Kolkata, or Lucknow[12]States plainly that no paid ticket is required[12]Reservation is enough
JapanConsulate General Kolkata via VFS[11]"Air ticket And Hotels booking are only required, not confirmed"[11]Held reservation
USAConsulate General Kolkata[1]Buy fares only after approval, says the State Department[3]Optional extra at most
UKVFS centre outside Bihar[15]Flight bookings appear among documents not to rely on, unless transiting[16]Usually leave it out

Italy deserves a second look. The Kolkata consulate's 2026 tourist checklist recommends tickets that are "fully paid and confirmed", for flights and for travel inside Schengen.[8] Our booking is held, not paid for, so it could fall short of what Kolkata recommends. If Italy is your main destination, a refundable or changeable fare is the safer way to satisfy it. Japan's Kolkata page goes the other way and says plainly that bookings need not be confirmed, which is exactly the job a reservation does.[11]

Planning the Kolkata trip around your documents

Because your appointment involves a journey, the order of events matters more than it does for someone living in Salt Lake. Here is the sequence we suggest to Mithila applicants.

First, book the appointment and the train or flight to Kolkata together. Second, gather everything that takes time, such as bank statements stamped by your branch in Laheriasarai, leave letters and ITR copies. Third, place the reservation order a couple of days ahead of your departure from Darbhanga, counting from the journey rather than the appointment. That way you have the PDF in hand, printed and checked, before you leave home, and you are not hunting for a print shop near the visa centre.

Japan adds a twist worth knowing. Its Kolkata page asks for a work-from-home letter where your workplace lies outside its four-state jurisdiction of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.[11] If you live in Darbhanga but work for a Bengaluru firm remotely, read that line closely.

Germany adds a helpful change. On 3 June 2026 it lifted the airport transit visa requirement for Indian nationals, according to its Kolkata consulate's page.[4] So a Delhi–Frankfurt–Toronto routing no longer needs that extra visa just for the change of planes in Germany.

Which flights from DBR make sense on an itinerary?

The airline pages we checked list only domestic routes from Darbhanga, so an international reservation from here begins with a connection. Three gateways stand out.

  • Kolkata: IndiGo sells a nonstop Darbhanga–Kolkata flight of about 1 hour 20 minutes.[17] Handy if your appointment and your departure are both in Kolkata.
  • Delhi: Akasa Air began flying from Darbhanga on 4 April 2025, its 28th city, with a daily service through Delhi.[18] Delhi then opens up direct flights to most of Europe and North America.
  • Mumbai: Akasa also sells Darbhanga–Mumbai.[19] Useful for the Gulf and for Africa.

You do not have to start the reservation in Darbhanga. Plenty of people take the train to Kolkata or a bus to Patna and fly internationally from there. What the officer wants is a route you will plausibly take, with dates that line up with your hotel and leave letter. If you will really fly DBR–DEL–FRA, put that on the booking. If you will leave from Kolkata, start it in Kolkata and say so in the cover letter.

Example of a held Emirates reservation shown on the airline's itinerary screen, with a Dubai connection, the traveller's name and a hidden six-letter booking code
A held booking through a Gulf hub, a common shape for itineraries that start in eastern India. See more layouts on our sample tickets page.

Example: a Madhubani teacher's spring trip to Spain

Here is an illustration, not a real customer. A schoolteacher from Madhubani wants ten days in Madrid and Seville in April with her husband. They have lived in Madhubani for years, so Spain's Delhi jurisdiction applies.[13] They pick the BLS centre in Kolkata because it is closer than Delhi.

The Delhi embassy's list asks for a cover letter, round-trip flight bookings and hotels for the whole stay, and advises against buying the ticket before the visa comes through.[14] Their appointment is on a Thursday. They plan to take the train from Darbhanga on Tuesday evening, so we would have them order the reservation on Monday: Kolkata to Madrid via a Gulf hub, returning from Madrid, both names exactly as printed in the passports. The hotel bookings and insurance cover the same dates, plus a day's margin on the insurance. The headmaster's leave letter names those dates too.

If the couple instead wanted a week in Rome and Florence, we would steer them differently. Italy's Kolkata list recommends paid tickets, so a flexible fare would serve them better than our reservation.[8]

Going to the Gulf for work? Read this first

A large share of travel out of north Bihar is for jobs in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. That journey runs on rules quite separate from tourist visas. India's Ministry of External Affairs says holders of an Emigration Check Required passport need emigration clearance before taking up a job in any of 19 listed countries, the Gulf states among them.[20] The nearest Protector of Emigrants office for Darbhanga is in Patna, and Patna also hosts one of six walk-in help centres for migrant workers.[20]

None of that involves a flight reservation from us. Your employer or registered recruiting agent handles clearance through the eMigrate system, and the ticket you travel on is a real one. Please do not buy a reservation for an employment visa unless the employer has specifically asked for one.

Family visit visas for the Gulf are a different matter, and our Saudi, UAE and Qatar guides explain what each one checks.

How far ahead should a Darbhanga applicant order?

Close to the date, but count back from the day you leave home rather than the appointment. Our reservations remain live for a maximum of 2 weeks; each carrier picks its own hold length, sometimes shorter. For someone travelling two days to reach Kolkata, ordering about five days before the appointment usually leaves enough life on the booking for the visa centre and the consulate to see it live.

Should processing drag on and the consulate request current travel plans, buy a new reservation at that point. Do not re-submit an old PDF with dates that have passed.

How to order from Darbhanga, step by step

  1. Find your mission in the table above and download its current checklist.
  2. Read the flight line twice. "Reservation" or "booking" suits us; "fully paid" points to a refundable fare.
  3. Decide where the trip starts: DBR, Patna or Kolkata, whichever you will really use.
  4. Fill in our booking form with names copied from each passport's data page.
  5. Pay ₹699 per traveller by UPI (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM), card or netbanking.
  6. Open the PDF, usually in your inbox within about 10 minutes, and check every name and date.
  7. Search the PNR under the carrier's Manage booking tab. Our verification guide shows how.

Lost the email? Track your order. Need a hotel to match? See hotel reservations. Rupee, dollar and Gulf prices sit together on our pricing page.

Mistakes we see from Mithila applicants

  • Applying under the passport address when you have lived elsewhere for six months or more. Residence decides the mission.
  • Using Bengaluru's or Mumbai's checklist because a relative applied there. Bihar files follow Kolkata's or Delhi's.
  • Ordering the reservation when you book the slot, three weeks out. It may lapse before the officer looks.
  • Sending a held booking where Italy recommends paid tickets without weighing a refundable fare.
  • Name order mix-ups. Some passports leave the surname field empty; copy exactly what is printed, field by field.
  • Edited PDFs from local agents. A PNR the airline's own website cannot locate will hurt your file, not help it.

Darbhanga FAQ

Is there a visa application centre in Darbhanga or Patna?

We found none on any official list this October. The Dutch, Spanish and Italian centre lists, and VFS's list of UK premium centres, contain no city in Bihar. Most Darbhanga applicants therefore submit in Kolkata, and some go to Delhi or Lucknow. Always confirm on the mission's site before travelling, as centres do open and close.

Which US consulate interviews people from Darbhanga?

The Consulate General in Kolkata. Its district covers Bihar along with West Bengal, Jharkhand and the north-eastern states. No flight booking is asked for at the Kolkata interview; American guidance says spend on fares once approved, not before. Carry a reservation only if it helps you explain your dates, and describe it honestly.

Can I submit a Spain visa in Kolkata if I live in Bihar?

BLS lists a Spanish application centre in Kolkata, but Spain places Bihar under its Embassy in New Delhi. That means the Delhi embassy's list governs your file: it wants round-trip bookings and recommends keeping your money until approval. Residence over the past six months decides jurisdiction, not the passport address.

Will Italy accept a flight reservation?

The Kolkata consulate's 2026 tourist list recommends fully paid and confirmed flight tickets. A held reservation is not paid, so it may fall short of that. If Italy is your main destination, compare the cost of a refundable fare. If you still use a reservation, label it accurately and accept that the consulate decides.

Do you have an office in Darbhanga?

No. DummyTicketPrice works only online. Everything happens on our website: the form, the ₹699-per-head payment through Razorpay (UPI, card or netbanking), and delivery of the PDF to your inbox, typically ten minutes later. There is no cash option and no counter to visit in Bihar or anywhere else.

Can my reservation start from Kolkata instead of Darbhanga?

Certainly, provided Kolkata is genuinely your point of departure. What matters to the officer is a plausible routing whose dates sit neatly alongside the hotel, the insurance cover and the leave letter. Many Mithila travellers take the train to Kolkata or fly out of Delhi. Mention your plan in the cover letter so nothing looks odd.

How long will the reservation last?

At most a fortnight; the carrier chooses the precise hold. Because you have to travel for the appointment, place the order shortly before your journey begins, not weeks in advance. If your appointment moves, order a new one closer to the new date.

Can I fly to the Gulf for a job on this reservation?

No. A reservation is a held seat, not a paid ticket, so no airline will board you on it. Employment travel by ECR passport holders also needs emigration clearance through eMigrate, arranged by your employer or recruiting agent. Our document has no role in that process.

Dummy ticket price for applicants in India

If your phone number is a India number (+91), a flight reservation costs ₹699 per passenger, one way or round trip. The price follows the country of your phone number, not where you are flying, so a Darbhanga applicant pays the same for Dubai, London or Toronto. Multi-city itineraries are priced per pair of flights and a hotel booking costs the same per stay.

Why a live reservation beats a free "ticket generator"

A generated ticket has no PNR. A visa officer who checks it finds nothing, and a refusal for a false document is the hardest kind to appeal.
