Manila is where most Luzon residents end up for their visa paperwork, whether they live in Sampaloc, Quezon City, Pasig, Las Piñas or as far out as Pampanga and Batangas. This page is the Metro Manila and Luzon overview. It concentrates on the Schengen checklists we could read in full, the extra papers foreign residents must add, and the airports you would fly from. Our separate Makati guide already covers the Dutch and Italian centres, Japan's visa centres, the UK premium centre in BGC and the immigration departure check at NAIA, so we link to it rather than repeat it.
Manila at a glance
| Topic | What the official pages say (checked October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Main airport | Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), Metro Manila.[1] |
| Second international airport | Clark International Airport (CRK), Pampanga.[2] |
| Czech Republic | The embassy's list wants a copied round-trip airline reservation naming the traveller.[3] |
| Denmark | Roundtrip reservation; buying is not required until the visa is granted.[4] |
| Finland | Round-trip flight reservation; buying before the decision is not recommended.[5] |
| Croatia | Round-trip airline reservation with the reservation number and itinerary.[6] |
| Germany | Schengen files go to VFS in Manila or Cebu.[7] |
| South Korea | Korea Visa Application Center, Brittany Hotel BGC, Taguig.[8] |
| Our price | $9 per person for single or return trips; card payment via Razorpay |
Which Schengen checklists in Manila mention flights?
Four lists we opened this month spell it out, and all four point the same way: show a planned round trip, but do not pay for it yet.
| Country | Exact wording on travel | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Czech Republic | "Copy of the round trip airline reservation, issued on the name of the traveler with complete itinerary"[3] | A held booking fits; add train or bus bookings for side trips inside Schengen |
| Denmark | "Photocopy of Roundtrip Airline Ticket Reservation" and "it is not required to pay for/buy the ticket until a visa has been granted"[4] | Reservation is exactly what is asked |
| Finland | "Flight reservation (roundtrip)" and "it is not recommended to purchase the tickets before receiving a visa decision"[5] | Reservation, covering any third countries on the way |
| Croatia | "Copy of the roundtrip airline reservation with Passenger Registration Number (or reservation number) and travel itinerary"[6] | The PNR must appear on the printout |
| Germany | Embassy page sends Schengen applicants to VFS Manila or Cebu; we could not retrieve a current Manila tourism list[7] | Follow the list VFS gives you |
If the copy handed to you at VFS says "confirmed ticket" or "paid ticket" instead, that newer wording wins. A held seat might not satisfy it, and a refundable fare would be the safer choice.
Booked a Schengen slot in Manila?
A few days ahead, get the round-trip reservation for $9 a person and print it at home.
How old are these checklists, and does it matter?
Some of them are older than you might expect. The Finnish file carries the note "Edited on 7/10/2019", the Danish list says "Updated 20 January 2020", and the Croatian file is named as a 2023 tourism checklist.[4][5][6] The Czech list has no date at all.[3] They are still the files the official sites serve, which is why we quote them.
Our honest reading: the flight item has hardly changed across Schengen in years, so an older list is still a fair guide on that point. Fees, insurance wording and appointment rules are another matter. Before your slot, open the embassy or VFS page again and check that no newer list has replaced the one on your desk.
Foreign nationals living in Manila: the ACR I-Card and re-entry permit
Manila is home to large Indian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese communities, plus many Western retirees and professionals. If that is you, the Schengen lists above add a residence check on top of the normal file.
- Czech Republic: non-Filipino applicants copy their "re-entry permit and Alien Certificate Registration (ACR), valid at least 3 months beyond the date of departure from the Schengen territory".[3]
- Croatia: foreign nationals in the Philippines add a copy of the ACR and the re-entry permit.[6]
- Finland: a non-Filipino applicant shows "Valid residence status in the Philippines", meaning photocopies of the ACR and re-entry permit.[5]
This has a direct effect on your reservation. The return flight on it should land in Manila while your ACR I-Card is still valid, and for the Czech desk at least three months before it runs out. If your card renews in March and you plan a February trip, sort the renewal first.
Leaving the country is a separate step. The Bureau of Immigration offers an online service for the Emigration Clearance Certificate B (ECC-B) on its website.[9] Your visa type decides if you need it, so ask the BI well before your flight. Our reservation has nothing to do with that clearance; it only supports the visa application.
Living outside Metro Manila: applying from elsewhere in Luzon
Most Luzon residents travel into the capital for appointments. Germany, for instance, names only two places for Schengen applications in the Philippines, VFS in Manila and VFS in Cebu.[7] For someone in Baguio or Naga, that means a trip south to Metro Manila, so book your bus or domestic flight around the appointment, not the other way round.
Residents of Central Luzon have a second airport option. Clark International Airport in Pampanga handles international flights,[2] and if you really would leave from there, your reservation can start at CRK instead of MNL. Choose the airport you would actually use and keep it the same on every form.
For Visayas or Mindanao addresses the picture changes, and our Cebu City and Davao City guides cover those regions.
South Korea from Manila
Korea moved its application intake to a dedicated centre in 2023. The embassy's notice gives the address as 9F to 10F of the Brittany Hotel BGC, 6 McKinley Parkway, Taguig City.[8] We could not open a current Korean checklist that addresses flights, so we make no claim either way. Use the list KVAC gives you, and see our South Korea visa guide for how Korean posts treat travel plans elsewhere.
Flights from NAIA that read naturally on a reservation
A reservation should look like a trip you would genuinely take from Manila. The Philippine flag carrier, for one, lists Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka among its Japanese destinations from Manila.[10] For Europe there is usually one stop: through a Gulf hub, Singapore, Hong Kong or Seoul. That is normal, and the PDF lists each sector separately.
Two habits help. Pick a connection that matches your fare budget, since an officer may wonder why a modest earner's itinerary uses the most expensive routing. And if your hotel booking starts in Rome, do not land the reservation in Paris unless your plans really take you there by train.

Example: a Quezon City nurse heading to Prague and Vienna
Say a nurse living in Quezon City has leave from 9 to 23 February and wants nine nights in Prague and five in Vienna. Most of her nights are in Czechia, so she applies to the Czech side.
About four days before her VFS slot, she orders one reservation: Manila to Prague on 9 February and Vienna to Manila on 23 February. The Czech list wants the "complete itinerary" and mentions train or bus tickets for side trips,[3] so she also adds the Prague to Vienna train booking. Her hotels, insurance and leave approval all carry the same dates. After the visa arrives, she buys a real fare, which is what she shows the airline and immigration on departure day.
A second example: a family from Sampaloc visiting relatives in Copenhagen
Picture a couple from Sampaloc and their two teenagers, invited by a sister who lives in Denmark. The Danish list wants a photocopy of the round-trip reservation and states plainly that buying can wait until the visa is granted.[4]
Here we would put all four names on one booking, spelt exactly as in each passport, so the PNR shows the family travelling together. The cost is $9 times four, and the printout goes into each person's file. The sister's invitation and residence papers carry the weight in this kind of application; the reservation simply confirms when the family arrives and leaves.
Middle names, married names and date formats
Philippine passports usually show a middle name, typically the mother's maiden surname. Airline systems only have first-name and surname fields, so the middle name normally goes after the given names. What matters is that the booking reads as a clear match for the passport data page and the visa form.
A married woman should use the surname on the passport she is submitting, even if her certificate of employment still shows her maiden name; a line in the cover letter explains the gap. Watch dates too. Many local documents write month before day, while visa forms and airline printouts often do the reverse, and 02/09 versus 09/02 is an easy slip.
How to order from Manila
- Read your checklist and note whether it asks for a reservation, a ticket, or nothing.
- Enter the route and dates on our booking page, starting from MNL or CRK as you would really travel.
- Type every name exactly as printed on the passport, including any middle name you put in the given-name field.
- Settle $9 for each traveller by card, with Razorpay handling the payment. Multi-city prices are on our price page.
- Check your inbox about 10 minutes later, and the spam folder if nothing arrives.
- Pull up the booking yourself on the carrier's site using the PNR and your surname. Our verification guide walks you through it.

When should a Manila applicant order?
Three to five days before the appointment. Holds run for 2 weeks at the very most, and the carrier alone settles the precise length, which may be less. Manila slots are often booked a month ahead; book the slot early by all means, yet hold off on the reservation until the last week. If the embassy holds the file past the expected date and wants a new itinerary, a fresh booking takes ten minutes.
What we would avoid
- A return date after your ACR I-Card expires. Foreign residents should check this before ordering.
- Presenting the reservation at the NAIA immigration counter. Officers there expect your paid return ticket; our Makati guide explains the departure rules.
- Applying to the wrong Schengen state because its centre is easier to reach. The main destination by nights decides.
- Edited PDFs or "free" generators. If the airline's site cannot show the booking, leave it out.
- Treating an old checklist as final without checking for a newer one.
Manila FAQ
Do the Schengen checklists in Manila accept a reservation instead of a ticket?
The Czech, Danish, Finnish and Croatian lists we read all ask for a round-trip reservation, and the Danish and Finnish ones advise against buying before the decision. A held booking with a working PNR matches that wording. If your centre hands you a newer list asking for a paid or confirmed ticket, follow the newer list.
I am an Indian national working in Pasig. What extra papers do I need?
Expect to show your residence status. The Czech list asks foreign applicants for the ACR and re-entry permit, valid at least three months beyond leaving Schengen, and the Croatian and Finnish lists ask for copies of both. Make sure the return date on your reservation falls well inside your ACR I-Card validity.
Can my reservation start from Clark instead of NAIA?
Yes, if that is how you would really travel. Clark International Airport in Pampanga handles international flights, and many Central Luzon residents find it easier to reach. Whichever airport you pick, repeat it on the form, in the cover letter and on the insurance certificate, so the file stays consistent.
Can I pay in pesos or in cash?
We charge $9 per traveller and take payment by card through Razorpay; your bank converts it from pesos. We do not accept cash, because we have no counter in Manila or anywhere else. The reservation arrives by email as a PDF in about 10 minutes.
Which Japanese cities can a Manila reservation show?
Any city you plan to visit, if seats exist on your dates. Philippine Airlines lists Tokyo's two airports, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka among its Japan destinations from Manila. Remember that Japan's checklist treats flight details as optional; our Makati guide quotes it.
Will the airline let me fly on it?
No. The seat is held under a genuine PNR, yet nothing has been paid for it, so check-in staff will refuse it. After the visa comes through, pay for a proper fare and show that one at the airport and at immigration.
How long will my Manila reservation stay live?
A fortnight is the ceiling, and the carrier may end it sooner. Order it in the week of your appointment. You can check the status at any time on the airline's website with your PNR and surname, which is worth doing the night before you submit.

Please remember: the embassy weighs your whole application, and a booking is one small part of it. Call it what it is, keep every date consistent, and let the officers decide.
