Dummy Ticket for Visa in Singapore: Checklists for EP, S Pass, Work Permit and PR Holders, Domestic Helpers, and Flights from Changi

If you live in Singapore, the German embassy asks for "A flight reservation or printout of your flight itinerary" and adds that no booked ticket is needed, while the Japan visa centre says purchase of the ticket is not required. We issue a held reservation with a live PNR from Changi for $9 per traveller, emailed in about 10 minutes.

Singapore is a city and a country at once, so this page covers the whole island: Jurong, Tampines, Woodlands and the CBD all deal with the same embassies and the same airport. Most readers are not Singapore citizens, whose passport already opens most doors. They are Employment Pass and S Pass holders from India, the Philippines, China and Malaysia, Work Permit holders including domestic helpers, Dependant's Pass families, students and permanent residents. Each group has its own paperwork to add. We set out what the official checklists say about flights, what they demand about your pass, and which routes from Changi make sense. If you are trying to visit Singapore rather than leave it, see our Singapore visa guide.

What do Singapore's checklists say about flights?

The Japanese list is the most specific of the lot. It wants passenger name, airport, flight number, date and time for both directions, starting and ending in Singapore.[4] A held booking with a working PNR supplies exactly those details without any money changing hands.

One Dutch detail is worth knowing. NetherlandsWorldwide warns that if the sticker's validity begins after the flight dates you gave in your application, you should contact the embassy in Singapore straight away, because an airline may refuse boarding on a mistaken visa.[5] Check the sticker against your planned dates the day you collect it.

Your pass: the document every checklist looks at

For foreign residents, the pass card matters as much as the passport. Both checklists we read are precise about it.

  • Germany: non-Singaporeans show proof of legal residence such as an EP, DP or Student Pass, "incl. printout of your current Singaporean residence permit validity (no QR-Code)".[2]
  • Japan: front and back copies of the PR card or pass, a print-out of the SGWorkPass app scanned within 5 days of applying, and a pass whose validity "should cover the trip to Japan and the return to Singapore". If a renewal is pending, add the In-Principle Approval letter.[4]

Here is where the reservation comes in. Its return date is what an officer compares with your pass expiry. If your EP lapses on 15 January and the reservation brings you back on 18 January, you have created a problem on paper. Renew first, or pick dates that fit. We would leave at least a few weeks of margin, because a delayed flight home should not push you past the expiry.

Permanent residents: do not travel without a valid REP

PRs have a different check. ICA says a valid Re-Entry Permit is necessary whenever a permanent resident travels out of Singapore, and that leaving or staying overseas without one means losing PR status. From 1 December 2025, the Immigration Act spells out the cases, starting with leaving Singapore without a valid REP and an REP becoming invalid while you are abroad.[7]

A visa officer abroad will not check your REP, but your own return depends on it. Look up its validity on ICA's site before you fix dates, and make sure the return leg on your reservation falls inside it. The Japan checklist also mentions that a minor PR without a physical card submits the Re-entry Permit Form 7.[4] For a wider view, see our guide to re-entry permits and returning residents.

Domestic helpers travelling with employers

Singapore families often take their helper on holiday, and both Germany and Japan publish separate rules for this.

The German embassy's list for a domestic helper asks for a photocopy of the employer's passport, including the signature page, a copy of the flight ticket reservation, the work contract and the travel itinerary with accommodation for the whole Schengen stay.[2] In other words, the helper's flights should sit on the same booking as the family's, or at least on the same flights.

The Japan visa centre has its own domestic helper checklist, updated on 30 April 2026. It covers a helper with a valid Work Permit who accompanies her employer, for example to look after the children or an elderly parent, and it states that helpers travelling without their employers cannot apply in Singapore.[11] The file includes Work Permit copies whose validity covers the trip and the return, a letter explaining why the helper must come, and proof of the employer's income; only the employer may submit it.[11] For the reservation, our advice is simple: put the helper on the family PNR, with her name spelt exactly as in her passport.

Japan from Singapore: fees and timing worth knowing

The Japan visa centre lists visa fees by nationality. Indian nationals pay SGD 7 for single or multiple entry, Philippine nationals pay nothing, and many other nationalities pay SGD 26 single or SGD 53 multiple; the VFS service fee is SGD 22 on top.[3] It also asks applicants to apply only within 3 months of the intended travel date.[3] So there is no point preparing a reservation five months out; plan the whole file inside that window.

Living in Brunei? The Dutch centre in Singapore covers you

NetherlandsWorldwide lists both Singapore and Brunei Darussalam as places whose residents can submit at VFS in Singapore.[5] For a Brunei resident, the reservation can start in Bandar Seri Begawan, or in Singapore if you will fly out from Changi after the appointment. Either is fine, as long as it is what you will actually do.

Routes from Changi that read naturally

Changi's nonstop network makes it easy to show a simple itinerary. A few examples from Singapore Airlines' own route pages:

  • Frankfurt: nonstop, two daily services, about 13 hours 10 minutes.[12] Natural for a German file.
  • Amsterdam: a daily nonstop of about 13 hours 20 minutes.[13]
  • London: several nonstop departures a day, roughly 13 hours 45 minutes to 14 hours.[14]
  • Tokyo: multiple daily services of around 7 hours.[15]

With so many nonstops available, a one-stop routing on a Singapore reservation needs a reason, such as a lower fare or a family visit on the way. An Indian EP holder who plans to stop in Chennai or Mumbai before Europe should show that on the reservation; the trip on paper should be the trip you take.

Starting the trip somewhere other than Changi

Not every Singapore resident flies out of Changi. Some cross into Malaysia first because fares from Johor Bahru or Kuala Lumpur are lower, and some combine a holiday with a visit home to Manila, Jakarta or Chennai before heading on. Both are fine for a visa file. The reservation should simply show the flights you will really take, with the first international flight leaving from the airport you will actually use.

If you go that way, say so in your cover letter in one line, so the officer is not left wondering why a Singapore resident's itinerary begins in another country. The return leg should still bring you back to Singapore, inside your pass validity. Our Kuala Lumpur guide covers the Malaysian side.

What to take to the visa centre

  • The printed reservation, with every traveller listed, including any helper.
  • Pass copies and the latest app print-out, as each checklist describes.
  • The same dates on hotels, insurance and your employer's leave letter.

Example: a Filipino nurse on an S Pass visiting Osaka

Say a nurse from Iloilo, working in Singapore on an S Pass, plans five nights in Osaka in March. Her pass runs until the following year. As a Philippine national she pays no Japanese visa fee, only the SGD 22 service charge.[3]

About ten days before travel, within the three-month window, she prepares the file: pass copies, a fresh SGWorkPass print-out, her employment certificate, bank records and a daily schedule. For flights she orders a reservation, Singapore to Osaka and back, which gives the flight numbers and times the checklist asks for.[4] With the visa in her passport, she then pays for a real fare.

A second example: an Indian EP family going to Germany with their helper

Picture an Indian couple on an EP and a DP, with two children and an Indonesian helper, planning a Christmas trip to Bavaria. All five apply at Haw Par Centre. The parents each bring their pass and its validity printout; the helper's file adds the employer's passport copy, the work contract and the shared itinerary.[2]

We would put all five on one reservation: Singapore to Frankfurt, then Munich back to Singapore if their hotels follow that path. That costs $45. Every name matches its passport, and the return date sits well inside every pass.

How to order from Singapore

  1. Check your checklist and your pass expiry (or REP, if you are a PR).
  2. Enter the route on our booking page, normally starting at SIN.
  3. Use passport spellings, not the shortened name your employer uses.
  4. Pay $9 per traveller by card; multi-city rates sit on the price page.
  5. Watch your inbox; the PDF usually arrives within about 10 minutes.
  6. Verify it with the PNR on the carrier's own pages; our verification guide explains how.

Follow an order on the tracking page.

When should a Singapore resident order?

In the week of the appointment. You get a maximum of 2 weeks, and the airline settles the exact length, which may be shorter. There is rarely a reason to order earlier than that. If an embassy asks for updated travel details later, buy a fresh reservation then.

What we would avoid

  • A return date after your pass or REP expires.
  • Names copied from a pass card instead of the passport.
  • Leaving the helper off the family booking when she travels with you.
  • Applying for Japan more than 3 months ahead, against the centre's own advice.
  • Altered PDFs. If the airline's website cannot show it, do not submit it.

Singapore FAQ

Does the German embassy in Singapore need a paid ticket?

No. Its checklist asks for a flight reservation or a printout of your flight itinerary and states in capitals that no booked ticket is needed. A held reservation with a working PNR matches that request. Bring your passport, your pass with its validity printout and the other items on the list to VFS at Haw Par Centre.

What does the Japan visa centre want to see about flights?

A round trip departing from and returning to Singapore, with passenger name, airports, flight numbers, dates and times. The checklist says purchase of the ticket is not required. A reservation from us provides those details. Apply within three months of travel, as the centre asks.

My EP is up for renewal. Can I still apply?

The Japan checklist accepts a copy of the In-Principle Approval letter while a pass is being renewed, and says the pass should cover the whole trip and the return. Germany wants a printout of your current pass validity. Choose reservation dates that fit inside the validity you can prove.

Can a Brunei resident apply in Singapore?

For the Netherlands, yes: NetherlandsWorldwide says residents of Singapore and Brunei Darussalam can submit at the VFS centre in Singapore. For other countries, check that embassy's own rules before booking an appointment, since each sets its own jurisdiction.

Can you add our domestic helper to the family reservation?

Yes, and we recommend it. Germany's helper checklist expects a copy of the flight reservation alongside the employer's passport and work contract, so the same booking for everyone keeps the file consistent. Give us her name exactly as in her passport. The price is $9 for each traveller.

How do I pay from Singapore?

Online with a debit or credit card via Razorpay. The charge is $9 per traveller and your bank handles the conversion from Singapore dollars. We have no office in Singapore and cannot take cash. The PDF reaches your email in about 10 minutes.

How long does a Singapore reservation stay valid?

At most a fortnight, with the carrier choosing the precise end date, sometimes earlier. Order it close to the appointment and open it on the carrier's site the night before you go. The reservation cannot be used to fly; purchase the actual fare once the visa is granted.

Dummy ticket price for applicants in Singapore

If your phone number is a Singapore number (+65), a flight reservation costs $9 per passenger, one way or round trip. The price follows the country of your phone number, not where you are flying, so a Singapore applicant pays the same for Dubai, London or Toronto. Multi-city itineraries are priced per pair of flights and a hotel booking costs the same per stay.

Why a live reservation beats a free "ticket generator"

A generated ticket has no PNR. A visa officer who checks it finds nothing, and a refusal for a false document is the hardest kind to appeal.
