Dummy Ticket for Visa in Kuala Lumpur: VFS Centres, Pass Validity and Flight Wording for Malaysia Residents

Expats in Kuala Lumpur can get a flight reservation with a live PNR for $9 per traveller, paid by card and emailed in roughly 10 minutes. Germany's KL checklist asks for a "Flight itinerary", the Netherlands needs no paid ticket, but Italy's embassy asks for a "Confirmed airline ticket (round trip)", where a held booking may fall short.

Kuala Lumpur runs on foreign talent. Bangladeshi and Nepali workers, Indian and Pakistani engineers, Filipino professionals and many others live in the Klang Valley on Employment Passes, dependant passes and other long-term permits. Malaysians themselves travel visa-free to much of Europe, but their foreign colleagues usually do not, and they apply from KL. This page explains where those applications go, what three European embassies in KL actually write about flights, how your Malaysian pass dates come into it, and when a reservation from us is or is not the right document. Note that DummyTicketPrice trades purely online; nobody from us sits in a KL office.

Where do KL residents apply?

Germany uses VFS Global. Its KL tourism page asks you to book with VFS, appear in person for identity checks and fingerprints, and allow a minimum of 7 days for processing.[3]

The Netherlands also routes files via VFS Global in Kuala Lumpur, but only for people whose home is in Malaysia, its page says.[5] Visitors passing through KL should apply at home.

Italy publishes its own document lists through the embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The tourism list starts by asking for proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction.[4]

The United States expects nonimmigrant interviews where you live or where you are a citizen, so Malaysian pass holders normally book the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur itself.[1] Its visitor guidance also warns against paying for flights ahead of approval.[2]

The United Kingdom treats flight bookings as unhelpful for a normal visit unless you are transiting.[8]

Why Italy is different

Italy's KL list is unusually direct. Under proof of transportation it says "Confirmed airline ticket (round trip)", and adds that trips with several Schengen stops need reservations for the internal trains, flights or car hire.[4]

A held reservation is a genuine booking with a PNR, but nobody has paid for the fare. When an official list uses the word "confirmed" about the airline ticket itself, we would not count on a held booking satisfying it. For an Italian application from KL, our advice is to buy a refundable or changeable fare, keep the fare rules with your file, and use our service, if at all, for the internal Schengen legs where the wording says "reservations". If you are unsure, ask the embassy or VFS before your appointment.

Italy also asks for a lot of financial detail: three months of Malaysian bank statements, stamped by the bank, with at least one account showing salary coming in, plus income tax returns and payslips for employees.[4] Flights are only one part of a heavy file.

How do your Malaysian pass dates affect the visa?

Every European list we read for KL ties your application to the expiry of your Malaysian permit. Germany wants the permit or permanent residence valid for at least three months after you return to Malaysia, and your passport valid for six months from that return.[3] Rome's mission in KL sets the same three-month margin, counted from your final Schengen day.[4]

Take a worked case. Your Employment Pass ends on 30 June. You want to return from Europe on 15 May. Fifteen May plus three months is 15 August, which is after 30 June, so the German condition fails. Renewal first, application second. It is also why we tell KL clients to fix the reservation last, once the pass, leave and hotel dates are all settled.

KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

Kuala Lumpur International Airport has two terminals, which Malaysia Airports now calls KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2, both under the airport code KUL.[9] Which one your flight uses depends on the airline. A reservation will show the departure terminal where the airline publishes it.

For Europe, travellers from KL commonly fly one-stop through a Gulf, Turkish or Asian hub, or nonstop where a carrier offers it. Pick the routing you would really take. The arrival into Schengen and the departure from it should line up with your hotel bookings and the travel plan form Germany asks for.[3]

Getting the German forms right

Germany's KL page spends more words on the application form than on flights, and for good reason. In the VIDEX form, tourists must enter the name and address of the hotel in Germany where they will stay, even when Germany is not the first Schengen country they land in. If that section is missing or wrong, the embassy says the file will look incomplete in its system and processing will be delayed.[3]

The same page asks for a travel plan form or tour itinerary alongside the flight itinerary.[3] Treat the three as one set. The first night in the travel plan should be the night your reservation lands, the hotel in VIDEX should be the one in the travel plan, and the last night should end the day the return flight leaves. Officers notice when these drift apart, and a tidy, consistent set is far more persuasive than any single document.

Families and dependants applying from KL

If you are applying with a spouse or children on dependant passes, the Italian list is a useful guide to what embassies expect, even if you are heading elsewhere. Dependent spouses provide the working spouse's employment letter, payslips and either a joint tax return or a marriage certificate with a sponsorship letter. Children provide their parents' bank statements, payslips and birth certificate.[4]

Italy will not accept marriage certificates older than six months, and documents issued outside Malaysia must be translated and legalised.[4] For a child travelling with only one parent, the embassy wants written consent from both parents, notarised by a Malaysian notary if a parent does not attend.[4]

For the flights, put the whole family on a single reservation where the checklist allows one, each name spelt exactly as in that person's passport.

Two KL examples

A Bangladeshi engineer going to Germany. Rahim works for a firm in Cyberjaya on an Employment Pass valid until March next year. He plans a twelve-day holiday in Germany in October with a VFS appointment on 15 September. His pass comfortably clears the three-month rule.[3] He fills in the VIDEX form with the hotel's name and address as the embassy instructs, completes the travel plan form, and orders a KL to Frankfurt round trip from us on 12 or 13 September. The "Flight itinerary" line is covered, and he buys a real fare once the visa is in his passport.

A Pakistani couple going to Italy. Sana and Bilal live in Mont Kiara, and Rome is their main stop. Because Italy's list says "Confirmed airline ticket (round trip)", we would not sell them a reservation for the international flights.[4] They buy a refundable return fare, keep the refund conditions in the file, and book the Rome to Florence train as a separate reservation, since that is what the note on intra-Schengen travel asks for.

How to order from Kuala Lumpur

  1. Read the flight line on your embassy's list; if it demands a confirmed or paid fare, buy one instead of using us.
  2. Fill in the booking form with your route, dates and each passenger's passport name.
  3. Pay $9 per passenger by Visa or Mastercard through Razorpay; your bank converts it to ringgit.
  4. Get the PDF by email in about 10 minutes.
  5. Retrieve your booking through the carrier's Manage booking tool, following our step-by-step guide.

Order status is on order tracking, and every currency is on the price page.

How far ahead should you book?

Schengen files can be lodged up to six months ahead, and normally at least 15 days before departure.[7] Inside that window, place the order a few days before VFS rather than weeks before. Our holds live for a maximum of 2 weeks, and each airline picks its own cut-off. Germany needs a minimum of 7 days to process, so a booking made two or three days before you submit will still be live when the file is read in the early part of that window. If VFS reschedules you, order a new reservation for the new date.

Before you leave for VFS

Germany's list asks for originals plus one copy of your pass, so pack both. Print the reservation once per applicant and staple it to the travel plan. On the eve of your slot, pull the booking up online using your surname and the reference. If a flight has been retimed or a sector has dropped out, message us on WhatsApp and we will look at it with you before your slot, not after.

One more practical point: KL traffic is unpredictable, and a missed slot may mean booking a new one. Leave early.

What about relatives visiting you in Malaysia?

When parents or siblings fly in to see you, the rules are Malaysia's, not Europe's. Malaysia's immigration department runs the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card portal, which sets out separate arrangements for foreign visitors and for long-term pass holders using the autogates at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.[10] Have your visitors check whether they must register before they fly. For onward-ticket checks on arrival and at check-in, our Malaysia onward ticket guide and Malaysia visa guide cover the details.

Pitfalls for KL applicants

  • Using a reservation for Italy when the list says a confirmed round-trip ticket.
  • An Employment Pass expiring inside the three-month margin after you fly home.
  • Leaving the VIDEX hotel fields incomplete for Germany, which the embassy says will delay processing.
  • Applying in KL as a short-term visitor, which the Dutch page does not allow.
  • Altered PDFs that no airline can retrieve.

Kuala Lumpur FAQ

Do you have an office in Kuala Lumpur?

No. We do not run a counter in KL, Penang or Johor Bahru, or anywhere else; DummyTicketPrice is an online service. Orders go through our website, Razorpay collects $9 per person from your card, and the PDF reaches your email in roughly 10 minutes, ready to print for VFS.

Will a reservation work for my German visa from KL?

The German Embassy's tourism checklist for Malaysia lists a "Flight itinerary (1 copy)", and a held reservation with a live PNR matches that description. Even so, the decision stays with the embassy, which can request extra papers. Make sure your Malaysian pass is valid at least three months after you return, as the same checklist requires.

Can I use your reservation for an Italian Schengen visa?

We would not rely on it for the international flights. Italy's Kuala Lumpur tourism checklist asks for a confirmed round-trip airline ticket, and a held booking without a paid fare may not meet that standard. Buy a refundable fare instead. Reservations remain useful for internal Schengen legs where the list says so.

Can I pay in ringgit or by FPX?

Our price for Malaysia is $9 in US dollars, payable by international debit or credit card through Razorpay. Malaysian online banking transfers such as FPX are not part of our checkout. Your card issuer converts the charge to ringgit and may add its own foreign currency fee, which we do not control.

I am visiting Malaysia on a social visit pass. Can I apply for Schengen in KL?

Usually not. The Netherlands says you can only submit at VFS Kuala Lumpur if you live in Malaysia, and Germany and Italy tie the application to a Malaysian residence permit with months of validity left. Short-term visitors should normally apply in their home country instead.

Can I board a flight at KLIA with the reservation?

No. Seats are only held, no fare is paid, and KLIA check-in desks need a paid ticket. Once your visa is granted, buy a real ticket. You can keep the same dates and flights or choose new ones that fit the visa.

How long does the reservation last?

A fortnight is the ceiling; the airline sets the actual span, and certain fares expire earlier. Order a few days before your VFS slot so it is live while the embassy reviews it. If the appointment moves, order a replacement close to the new date.

Please note: our held bookings are not purchased fares and have no power over a visa outcome. When a KL checklist wants a confirmed or paid ticket, give it exactly that. Keep every date consistent and leave the decision to the embassy.

Dummy ticket price for applicants in Malaysia

If your phone number is a Malaysia number (+60), a flight reservation costs $9 per passenger, one way or round trip. The price follows the country of your phone number, not where you are flying, so a Kuala Lumpur applicant pays the same for Dubai, London or Toronto. Multi-city itineraries are priced per pair of flights and a hotel booking costs the same per stay.

Why a live reservation beats a free "ticket generator"

A generated ticket has no PNR. A visa officer who checks it finds nothing, and a refusal for a false document is the hardest kind to appeal.
