If you live in Kumasi, the honest summary is this: one visa can now be lodged in your own city, and almost everything else still means a trip down to Accra. The UK opened a premium centre in Kumasi in 2025. The Dutch and German Schengen desks have no Kumasi option that we could find, so your biometrics happen in the capital. That shapes how you plan the flight reservation too, because the appointment date, the bus or flight to Accra, and the dates on your itinerary all have to line up. This guide is for people based in Kumasi and the wider Ashanti Region, whether you were born in Bantama or moved here from Lagos or Hyderabad for work. There is no DummyTicketPrice branch in Kumasi; everything is done online.

Can Kumasi residents lodge a UK visa locally?
Yes. VFS Global opened a UK Premium Application Centre in Kumasi on 26 June 2025, at the Golden Bean Hotel on Harper Road in Nhyiaeso. Opening hours listed in the launch release are 8 am to 2 pm.[1] The British High Commission's chargé d'affaires described it as expanding visa services "to customers outside Accra".[1]
"Premium" matters here. A premium centre usually carries an extra charge on top of the visa fee, and VFS bundles services such as document upload help and courier return with it.[1] Compare that charge against a round trip to the standard centre at the Grand Oyeeman Building in Accra, which has run since October 2024.[2] For a family of four, the trip to Accra may cost less. For one busy professional, losing a working day may cost more.
Now the flight question. For a normal UK visit, you do not need one. UKVI's guide to supporting documents lists "flight bookings (unless transiting)" among items it does not want.[3] GOV.UK also puts the opening of the window at three months before departure, with most answers inside three weeks.[4] Our advice to Kumasi applicants is simple: keep flight bookings away from a UK visitor file unless Britain is only a transit point.
Schengen from Kumasi: the Accra trip you have to plan
Both Schengen desks we could verify are in Accra. The German Embassy handles residents of Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone whose main destination is Germany.[5] The Netherlands sends Ghanaian residents to the VFS Global centre in Accra.[7] Each sets the same window: no sooner than six months out, no later than 15 days before you fly.[5][7]
On flights, both are generous:
- German Embassy Accra, visitor checklist: "flight reservation for round-trip (no ticket required)".[6]
- Netherlands, tourism checklist: a booking in your name covering entry and exit, and "You do not need a paid travel ticket."[8]
So a held booking is exactly what they ask for. The planning trap is different. You have to book the Accra appointment, get yourself there, and only then does the 14-day German processing clock start.[5] If your appointment is at 9 am, think about whether you travel the evening before. Either way, order the reservation after the appointment is fixed, not before.
Appointment in Accra next week?
Order your held booking from Kumasi tonight for $9 a head. It lands by email in about 10 minutes.
Should your reservation start in Kumasi or Accra?
Start it where you will really board the international flight. For nearly everyone that is Accra. Ghana Airports Company says Kumasi's airport is international "primarily for regional operations", and lists two carriers there, Africa World Airlines and PassionAir, both domestic.[9]
There have been exceptions. In late 2024, GACL and Ethiopian Airlines announced direct London Gatwick–Kumasi flights for December, with the next one scheduled "to accommodate the Christmas holidays".[10] That reads as a seasonal arrangement. If a direct Kumasi service is bookable on your dates, a reservation from KMS is fine. If not, do not force it.
There are three sensible shapes for a Kumasi itinerary:
| Shape | When it fits | What the reservation shows |
|---|---|---|
| Accra departure only | You will go to Accra by road, as most people do | ACC to Europe and back |
| Domestic link plus long-haul | You will fly KMS to ACC first | KMS–ACC, then ACC onwards; ask us for a multi-city booking |
| Direct from Kumasi | Only if an international service from KMS actually runs on your dates | KMS to the destination |
A domestic hop is optional for the visa file. Most officers care about when you arrive in and leave their country, not how you got to Accra.

Not Ghanaian, but living in Kumasi?
Not everyone filing from the Ashanti Region holds a Ghanaian passport. Foreign staff at mines, schools, churches and KNUST all apply from here. When you apply from Ghana on another passport, the missions want proof that you live here legally.
The Dutch checklist asks for "valid proof of legal residence in the country where you are applying for a visa", and a permit with at least three months left after your Schengen exit.[8] UKVI wants "confirmation of legal residence" from non-nationals.[3] Check the expiry date on your Ghana permit before you choose travel dates. If it runs out soon after your trip, renew first.
Your reservation simply uses the name in your own passport. Indian, Nigerian or Chinese, the flight is still from Ghana. Our guides for Nigerian travellers, Indian travellers and Filipino travellers explain home-country exit rules.
Canada and the US from the Ashanti Region
Canada: you apply online with IRCC and give biometrics at a visa application centre. Among examples of documents showing your travel plans, IRCC lists "flight details" and proof of accommodation.[12] A held reservation fits that description well, and it spares you buying a fare before you know the outcome.
United States: the interview is at the US Embassy in Accra, so another trip south. Washington tells applicants to hold off buying tickets until a visa is issued.[13] The online DS-160 form wants your planned dates; it does not ask for proof of a booking. We would not sell you a reservation for a US interview unless you specifically want a printed plan to refer to.
Example: a KNUST lecturer's conference in Germany
Suppose Yaw lectures at KNUST and has an invitation to a five-day conference in Hamburg starting 9 March. No other Schengen state features, so the file goes to the German Embassy in Accra.[5] His appointment is on 10 February.
He rides down to Accra on 9 February and lodges on the 10th. We would have him order the reservation on 7 or 8 February: Accra to Hamburg on 8 March, back on 15 March. The conference invitation, the university's travel approval and the insurance all carry the same dates. When the visa comes through, the university's travel desk buys the actual fare. If his slot had slipped a week, he would simply order a new reservation closer to the new date rather than submitting a stale one.
A second example: Ejisu grandparents visiting Manchester
Imagine Ama and Kwaku, retired cocoa farmers near Ejisu, invited by their son in Manchester for six weeks in the summer. They book the Kumasi premium centre, paying the extra charge, because the drive to Accra is hard for Kwaku.[1]
Their file focuses on the son's invitation, his UK status, their land and family ties at home, and who pays. No flight booking goes in, following UKVI's own list.[3] They submit in early April for a July trip, within the three-month window.[4] Once both visas are granted, the son books their real tickets from Accra. This is a case where we would happily tell someone not to spend $9 with us.
Booking for a whole family from Kumasi
Families are where small errors multiply. Every person in the visa application, babies included, needs a seat on the same itinerary, with each name spelt exactly as in that child's own passport. If one parent holds a different surname, that is fine; the airline record simply lists each traveller as they appear in their documents.
For a Schengen trip, a family of four from Kumasi would usually travel to Accra together for biometrics, since everyone must appear in person. Plan the appointment for a single day if the desk allows several applicants in one slot, and order one reservation that covers all four, two or three days before. We charge $9 for each passenger, so four people cost $36 for a return trip. For the UK premium centre in Kumasi, the same naming rule applies to the application forms, but as we said above, the UK file normally goes in without a flight booking.[3]
Getting yourself to an Accra appointment
Treat the trip south as part of the application. Road travel between Kumasi and Accra can take most of a day once traffic is included, so an early-morning slot is risky if you set off that morning. Many applicants travel the afternoon before and stay overnight. Others fly with one of the domestic carriers GACL lists at Kumasi airport.[9]
Whatever you choose, carry your printed reservation, passport, permit and checklist in hand luggage, not in a bag that goes in the boot. And check the PNR before you leave Kumasi. If something has changed, you can order a replacement from your phone and print it near the centre in Accra.
Ordering from Kumasi in six steps
- Fix the appointment first, in Kumasi for the UK or Accra for Schengen.
- Read your checklist's flight line to decide whether you need a reservation at all.
- Choose the itinerary shape: Accra only, a domestic link, or direct if one runs.
- Complete our booking form, matching every name to its passport.
- Settle $9 for each traveller with a card on Razorpay.
- Retrieve the PNR on the airline's Manage booking page once the email arrives. How to check it.
How close to the Accra trip should you order?
For most people the sweet spot is two or three days ahead. Holds run no longer than two weeks, and the real duration is up to the carrier, which differs between airlines and fares. Because the long road journey sits between you and the appointment, order before you set off, check the PNR once on the airline's site, and print two copies. If the embassy later asks for a fresh travel plan, you can order another reservation from Kumasi in minutes.
Your appointment folder
- Reservation printout with every traveller's name, for Schengen files.
- A note of the PNR and airline, in case the officer asks.
- Dates that agree across invitation, leave letter, insurance and hotel.
- Residence permit copy if you hold a foreign passport.
What trips up Kumasi applicants
- Booking a reservation from KMS to Europe when no such flight runs on that day.
- Ordering three weeks early and finding the hold released by appointment day.
- Assuming the premium centre takes Schengen files. The Kumasi centre announced by VFS is for UK visas.
- Putting a flight booking in a UK visitor file because a friend did.
- Different spellings of a name across passport, form and reservation.
Kumasi FAQ
Is there a DummyTicketPrice office in Kumasi?
No, we have no physical office anywhere. You order online, settle the $9 by card on Razorpay, and the PDF lands in your inbox, usually within ten minutes. That suits Kumasi applicants well, because you can order the evening before you travel to Accra and print it locally.
Can I submit a Schengen visa in Kumasi?
Not that we could find in October 2026. The German Embassy and the Dutch VFS desk both take Ghanaian residents' files in Accra. The Kumasi centre that VFS opened in June 2025 was announced for UK visa applicants. Check the official site of your main destination in case a new option appears.
Where is the UK visa centre in Kumasi?
VFS Global's Premium Application Centre is on the third floor of the Golden Bean Hotel, 19 Harper Road, Nhyiaeso, Adum. Its launch release gives hours of 8 am to 2 pm. It is a premium centre, so expect an extra charge compared with the standard centre in Accra. Book through the VFS website.
Should my reservation leave from Kumasi?
Only if you will genuinely fly internationally from Kumasi. GACL describes the airport as international mainly for regional operations and lists two domestic carriers. Most long-haul trips start at Accra, so an ACC departure is the normal choice. A KMS to ACC domestic leg can be added if you will fly down.
Does the German Embassy need a paid ticket?
No. Its visitor checklist asks for a round-trip flight reservation and states that no ticket is required. You still need to keep the dates consistent with your invitation, insurance and leave letter. The embassy's usual processing time is 14 days from submission, occasionally longer.
What does a Kumasi reservation cost?
Each traveller costs $9, whether single or return; multi-city trips add $9 per traveller for every pair of legs, and the total appears at checkout. Payment is by card through Razorpay. We do not take cash or mobile money because we have nobody on the ground to collect it.
When does a Kumasi reservation expire?
Within two weeks at the latest; the airline decides precisely when, and some carriers release seats earlier. Buy it a couple of days before your appointment, and look it up on the carrier's website on the eve of your trip south. If it has lapsed, order a replacement.
Order from Kumasi
