Dummy Ticket for Visa in Islamabad: Visa Centres, Flight Wording and ISB Routes for Twin-City Residents

If you live in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, most visa files go in within the capital itself: the US Embassy interviews here, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands and Italy run application centres here, and the UK shares a centre with Australia. Spain's checklist asks for a return flight reservation. Ours is $9 a traveller and usually reaches your inbox within ten minutes.

This guide is for people who actually live in the twin cities: Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the towns around them. Most of you are Pakistani citizens, but the capital also has a large community of foreign residents, from diplomats' household staff to engineers on project contracts, and we cover their position too. Our Pakistan-wide page already explains which province belongs to which German or Italian office, so here we stay local. Which counters can you reach by car from Blue Area or Saddar? What does each one write about flights? And when should the reservation be ordered? We are an online service, so there is no DummyTicketPrice office in Islamabad or anywhere else.

Which office in Islamabad takes your file?

For a resident of the capital territory or Rawalpindi District, the answer is almost always "one in this city". That is the big advantage of living here. Someone in Lahore or Peshawar may have to drive to Islamabad for a German or US appointment; you can be there in half an hour.

The offices fall into two groups. A few missions still take applicants in person: the US Embassy for interviews, and the German Embassy, which allocates slots through an online waiting list. Everyone else uses a commercial partner: VFS Global for the Netherlands, Canada and the UK, BLS-Intiana for Italy, and the Spain Visa Application Centre for Spanish Schengen files. The partner collects documents and fingerprints; the embassy decides.

So the first job is not the flight. It is working out which counter you will stand at, because that tells you which checklist to read.

What does Spain's Islamabad checklist say about flights?

Spain's is the clearest wording we found for Islamabad applicants. The Embassy of Spain's Schengen checklist, published through its official visa site for Pakistan, lists under "Proof of means of transport" a "Flight reservation of air ticket (return or round trip) from/to Pakistan and the Member State of destination".[7] If your trip includes other Schengen stops, it also wants reservations for the train, flight or car hire between them.[7]

Three things follow from that sentence. The word is "reservation", so a held booking with a live PNR fits it. The route must start in Pakistan, so an itinerary beginning in Dubai because that is where your cousin lives would look odd. And the destination should be Spain, or the Schengen country where your trip formally begins and ends.

A few other points from Spain's pages are worth knowing before you book anything:

  • Timing. Files should go in at least 15 days before travel, and the embassy's minimum processing time is 15 calendar days, which can run longer case by case.[8]
  • Satellite centres. Files lodged at a satellite centre can spend 48 to 72 hours in transit to Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi.[8] Islamabad residents lodging in G-7 avoid that delay.
  • Residence proof. Pakistani nationals show a CNIC; anyone else shows proof of legal residence in Pakistan, such as a long-stay visa or a residence or work permit.[7]
  • Boarding. The Spanish visa site states plainly that the embassy is not responsible if an airline or immigration officer refuses to let a passenger board.[6] A visa is not a promise of travel.

Spain's tourist page frames the category around visitors who buy a package tour or arrange "a booking of tickets and hotel" on their own.[8] We read that in the light of the checklist: a booking, not a purchase.

UK and Australia: one building, two different attitudes

The British High Commission and the Australian High Commission opened a shared Visa Application Centre in Islamabad in 2018, describing it as near public transport with parking on site.[3] GOV.UK's finder still sends Pakistan applicants to VFS Global for the UK.[5]

On flights, the UK is the outlier. Its own guide to supporting documents for visitors puts "Flight bookings (unless transiting)" among papers that add little to an application.[4] In plain terms, the caseworker does not need to see one. If you are visiting a brother in Bradford, spend your energy on bank statements, the invitation and proof of your job in Islamabad. We would only add a reservation for a UK file if you are transiting the UK, or if a specific date (a convocation, a wedding) is central to the trip and you want the plan to read clearly.

For Australia, the shared building is only the front door. Read the document list your online application gives you and follow it rather than any general advice, ours included.

Canada: flight details are a suggestion, not a demand

Canada's visa application centre network for Pakistan has three addresses: Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.[9] Twin-city residents use Islamabad for biometrics.

IRCC's visitor visa page suggests including documents that show how long you plan to stay, and lists "flight details" next to accommodation and event registration as examples.[10] Nothing there asks you to pay for a ticket. A reservation is a tidy way to supply those details. Since Canadian processing times vary widely, though, a held booking will very likely have lapsed by the time an officer opens the file, and that is fine: it shows your plan at the time you applied, nothing more. Do not keep reordering it every fortnight.

The US Embassy: interviews here, no booking needed

Islamabad is the only US post in Pakistan that handles both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas; Karachi does nonimmigrant interviews only.[1] Its visa page says to book the interview where you live or where you are a citizen.[1]

Should you bring a flight reservation to the interview? It is not required. The State Department tells visitors not to buy tickets before the visa is issued.[2] The DS-160 asks for intended dates, and the officer's questions are about your ties to Pakistan and the purpose of the trip. If you feel more confident holding a printout that shows a defined two-week visit, it does no harm, as long as you describe it as a reservation.

Germany, Italy and the Netherlands from Islamabad

These three are covered in depth on the Pakistan page, so here is just the Islamabad angle.

Germany. The embassy in the capital handles Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK and the capital territory, and slots come through a free online waiting list.[11] For twin-city residents the wait is the main issue, not the distance. Order nothing until your appointment date is confirmed.

Italy. BLS-Intiana's Islamabad centre falls under the Italian Embassy, and the embassy wants you to use the centre covering your permanent residence.[12] If your CNIC shows a Rawalpindi address, Islamabad is your centre.

Netherlands. VFS Islamabad takes Dutch Schengen files from residents of Pakistan, and also Finnish ones.[13] The Dutch tourism checklist is relaxed about flights, which our Netherlands visa guide explains.

Not Pakistani but living in Islamabad?

Islamabad has more foreign residents than most Pakistani cities, and the rules treat residence, not nationality, as the deciding factor. Spain's checklist is explicit: non-Pakistani applicants show the Pakistani residence visa with their passport copies, plus proof of legal residence such as a long-stay visa or a residence or work permit.[7] The US Embassy similarly expects you to apply where you live or where you hold nationality.[1]

The practical trap for expats is permit dates. Say a Filipino nurse at an Islamabad hospital has a work permit running to 31 December and plans a Madrid holiday in mid-December. Her return flight on the reservation should land in Islamabad well before the permit expires. If the return date falls after the expiry, the file shows a person flying back into a country where she may not be allowed to stay. Renew first, or shorten the trip. No flight document solves a residence gap.

The reservation itself works the same for every nationality: name exactly as printed in the passport you are applying with, ISB as the starting point if that is where you will fly from, and dates inside your permit.

ISB airport and the routes that make sense

Islamabad International Airport serves both cities, so a Rawalpindi family's reservation should start at ISB like anyone else's. Emirates' route page for Islamabad to Dubai shows 10 flights a week, which gives a sense of how routine the Gulf connection is.[14] From a Gulf hub, Madrid, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Toronto and London are all one more sector.

Two practical tips. First, pick a connection your passport can actually use. If a routing needs an airport transit visa you do not hold, it will raise questions; ask us on WhatsApp before paying and we will suggest a simpler one. Second, keep the departure city the same everywhere. Writing "Lahore" on the form and showing ISB on the reservation is a small mismatch that makes an officer look twice.

Two Islamabad examples

A Rawalpindi couple and a Seville wedding. This is an illustration. A schoolteacher and her husband in Satellite Town are invited to a family wedding in Seville on 20 May. Their Spanish appointment in G-7 Markaz is on 14 April. On 10 or 11 April they order one reservation, ISB to Madrid via a Gulf hub and back, with both names spelt as in their passports. The hotel booking, the insurance certificate and the leave letter from her school all carry the same two dates. Spain's checklist asks for a return reservation from Pakistan, and that is what they hand in.[7]

An F-8 consultant heading to a Toronto conference. Also an example. He gives his biometrics at the Canada centre in Islamabad and attaches the conference registration and a reservation showing the dates, because IRCC lists flight details as helpful.[10] When processing runs long and the hold lapses, he does nothing. Once the visa arrives he buys a real fare for the conference week.

When should an Islamabad applicant order?

A few days before the appointment, not when you first plan the trip. Expect the hold to last 2 weeks at most, with the airline deciding the exact period; some fares hold for less. With Germany's waiting list and Spain's 15-day minimum, ordering at the moment you register means the PNR will very likely be released before anyone reads it. If your appointment moves, order a new one near the new date rather than handing in a dead booking.

How to order from Islamabad or Rawalpindi

  1. Find your counter in the table above and download that mission's current checklist.
  2. Read the flight line word for word. "Reservation" and "confirmed ticket" are not the same request.
  3. Fill in our booking form with ISB as the origin, your destination and your dates, copying each name from the passport's data page.
  4. Pay $9 per traveller by card through Razorpay. Multi-city trips are priced per pair of legs.
  5. Open the email, usually about 10 minutes later, and check every name and date.
  6. Look the booking up on the airline's site with the PNR and surname. Our verification guide shows how.

Islamabad FAQ

Is there a DummyTicketPrice office in Islamabad?

No. We work only online and have no counter in Islamabad, Rawalpindi or any other city. Everything happens on our website: you enter the trip, settle $9 per traveller with a card via Razorpay, and the PDF lands in your inbox, normally in about 10 minutes. Printing it at home or at a shop near your visa centre is fine.

Does the Spain centre in Islamabad accept a reservation instead of a ticket?

The Embassy of Spain's checklist asks for a flight reservation, return or round trip, between Pakistan and the destination country. A held booking with a live PNR matches that wording. If the centre hands you a different or newer list that asks for a paid ticket, follow the list you were given, since the embassy decides.

Where is the Spain visa centre in Islamabad now?

Spain's official visa site for Pakistan says the Islamabad centre moved on 6 July 2026 to the second floor of Plot 3-A, G-7 Markaz. Older appointment letters may show the previous address, so check the site before you set off. Appointments are booked online only, and the site warns against paying intermediaries.

Do I need a flight booking for my US interview in Islamabad?

No. The State Department advises against buying tickets before a visa is granted, and the DS-160 only asks for intended dates. Some applicants carry a reservation to show a defined trip, which is optional. If you bring one, call it a reservation and never suggest it is a paid ticket.

Should a Rawalpindi resident start the itinerary at ISB?

Yes, if that is the airport you will use, and for most Rawalpindi families it is. Islamabad International serves both cities. Put the same departure city on your visa form, the reservation and any cover letter, so the officer sees one consistent plan rather than two different starting points.

I am a foreign national working in Islamabad. Can I apply here?

Generally yes, if you live here legally. Spain's checklist asks non-Pakistani applicants for proof of legal residence, such as a long-stay visa or a residence or work permit, and the US Embassy asks you to apply where you live or hold nationality. Make sure your return date falls inside your permit's validity.

How long will the reservation stay live?

Up to 2 weeks, and the airline sets the exact period, which can be shorter. Order a few days before your appointment. If the appointment moves or processing drags on, there is no need to keep renewing; order a fresh one only if the mission asks for updated travel plans.

Dummy ticket price for applicants in Pakistan

If your phone number is a Pakistan number (+92), a flight reservation costs $9 per passenger, one way or round trip. The price follows the country of your phone number, not where you are flying, so a Islamabad applicant pays the same for Dubai, London or Toronto. Multi-city itineraries are priced per pair of flights and a hotel booking costs the same per stay.

Why a live reservation beats a free "ticket generator"

A generated ticket has no PNR. A visa officer who checks it finds nothing, and a refusal for a false document is the hardest kind to appeal.
