Dummy Ticket for Poland Visa (2026): What Polish Missions Ask For on Flights

For a Poland Schengen visa, a flight reservation is enough on every official list we checked. India's 2026 checklist asks for "proof of intended means of transport and itinerary". The Embassy in Abu Dhabi goes further and tells applicants to make reservations they can cancel if the visa is refused. Book a round trip close to your appointment.

Poland writes about flights in plainer language than most Schengen states. Several of its Gulf missions tell you outright to book something you can cancel, and the Indian checklist only asks you to prove how you will travel. That does not make the flight part trivial. Polish consulates in India take applications by state, release appointment slots on a fixed weekly or monthly rhythm, and keep your passport for the whole time the file is open. A reservation that lapses or shows the wrong dates can cost you a slot you waited weeks for. This guide sets out exactly what the Polish posts in India and the Gulf print about flights, what they mean in practice, and how we would prepare that part of the file. For rules shared by all 29 Schengen states, keep our Schengen visa flight reservation guide open alongside this one.

Who needs a visa for Poland?

Holders of an Indian passport must get a Schengen visa before any short trip to Poland, be it a holiday, a family visit or work meetings. The same goes for most passports held by people living in the Gulf, such as Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Egyptian or Sri Lankan nationals. Emirati citizens do not need a visa for short stays, as the Czech Embassy in Abu Dhabi also confirms for the whole Schengen area;[11] if that is you, the visa part of this guide does not apply, though border guards can still ask how you plan to leave.

If you already hold a residence permit from another Schengen country, you generally do not need a separate visa for a short trip to Poland. Everyone else applies to Poland only when Poland is the sole destination or the main one, which we come back to below.

What does Poland's Indian checklist say about flights?

Both Polish posts in India work from a single set of checklists, last revised on 18 February 2026. On the tourism and family-visit list, item 5 reads simply: "PROOF OF INTENDED MEANS OF TRANSPORT AND ITINERARY".[4] The business list uses identical words at item 5.[5]

Notice what is missing. There is no "confirmed ticket", no "paid ticket", nothing about proof of purchase. Poland simply wants to see your route and how you will cover it. A round-trip flight reservation with your name, a live booking code and the dates on your form answers that directly.

Item 4 of the same list ties the flight to your cover letter. It asks for a letter "stipulating the purpose of travel, duration, names of accompanying persons, transport and accommodation details".[4] So the flight shows up twice in your file: once as a document and once in your own words. Both must agree.

Plain reading: for an Indian applicant, Poland's list is satisfied by a genuine reservation that matches the form, the cover letter and the hotel nights. Nothing on the official page suggests you should buy a fare before a decision.

Older Polish checklists that still circulate online carried a sharper line, "FLIGHT ITINERARY (RESERVATION ONLY)". The 2026 Indian lists no longer print that phrase, so quote the current wording if anyone asks, and download the list from the Embassy's page rather than from a forum.

What do Polish missions in the Gulf ask for?

Each Gulf post writes its own list, and the wording runs from "reservation, please keep it cancellable" to "ticket or reservation". Here is what each one printed when we checked:

  • Embassy in Abu Dhabi (UAE residents only): "Flight itinerary (round flight ticket - preliminary booking/reservation). Note: make travel reservations which you can cancel, in case your visa request will be refused."[6]
  • Embassy in Doha: "Flight itinerary (round flight ticket - preliminary booking/reservation), also if visiting more than one Member State."[8]
  • Embassy in Kuwait: "Copy of flight ticket or flight reservation including return flight."[7]
  • Embassy in Riyadh: "A copy of the flight ticket reservation containing the flight details and booking number."[9]

Abu Dhabi's note is about as clear as consular writing gets: the embassy itself advises you to avoid locking in money before the decision. Riyadh's line is worth reading twice. It wants a booking number on the page, which is exactly what a PNR is, so a reservation that hides or omits the code would fall short.

We did not find a Polish visa page of its own for Oman or Bahrain. The Riyadh page mentions applicants "coming from countries other than Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen", which suggests Riyadh also handles Oman, but confirm with the embassy before you book anything.[9]

Will a held booking do, or must you buy the fare?

For Poland, a held reservation fits every list we read. The table puts each wording next to what it means for you.

MissionExact flight wordingDoes a reservation fit?
New Delhi and Mumbai (via VFS)"Proof of intended means of transport and itinerary"[4]Yes. It asks for proof of the plan, not of payment.
Abu Dhabi"Preliminary booking/reservation", make it cancellable[6]Yes, and the embassy recommends it.
Doha"Preliminary booking/reservation"[8]Yes.
Kuwait"Flight ticket or flight reservation including return flight"[7]Yes, provided the return leg is on it.
Riyadh"Flight ticket reservation" with "booking number"[9]Yes, if the booking number is printed.
Last checked: October 2026. Handed a list that says "paid" or "confirmed ticket"? Then a held booking might fall short, so check with the mission.

One honest caveat. These lists describe what you hand in. They do not stop the consul from asking for more, and every Polish checklist says the post can request extra documents or an interview.[4][6] If that happens and the request names a paid ticket, follow it or ask whether a refundable fare will do.

Where do Indian residents apply, and when do slots open?

You submit at a VFS Global centre, but the decision comes from one of two Polish posts. Which one depends on where you live.[3]

Polish postStates and territories it coversWhen new slots appear

That slot rhythm matters for your flight. If you live in Bengaluru, Mumbai's monthly release means your appointment could be six or seven weeks away when you book it. Do not reserve the flight on the same day you grab the slot. Book it in the last few days before you walk into VFS.

The Embassy also states plainly that it does not work with travel agents or visa intermediaries, that using one brings no preferential treatment, and that the only fee it charges is the consular fee.[10] VFS adds its own service charge on top.

Is Poland really your main destination?

Poland takes your file in three cases: it is the lone country you visit, it gets more nights than any other, or your trip exists because of it. If nights are split evenly, the country you enter first takes the file.[1][2]

A common Indian itinerary shows why this matters. Warsaw for three nights, Kraków for three, then Prague for two and Vienna for two: Poland has six of ten nights, so Poland is right. Swap it round to Prague four, Vienna three and Kraków three, and the Czech Republic becomes the main destination, even though Kraków is in the plan. Our Czech Republic visa guide covers that case.

When Poland is right and you visit more than one country, show every leg. The Doha wording explicitly covers trips to "more than one Member State", and the Polish accommodation item asks for proof of lodging in each country you visit.[4][8] A multi-city or open-jaw reservation keeps this on one page; trains between Kraków and Prague can be shown with a rail booking.

What should a Poland flight reservation show?

  • Each traveller's name spelt as the passport prints it, with any middle name the passport carries.
  • A return leg. Kuwait and the UAE spell this out; India asks for your itinerary, and a round trip is the natural way to show it.[6][7]
  • The booking reference printed clearly. Riyadh asks for the "booking number" in so many words.[9]
  • Dates that sit inside your insurance. Poland's Indian list wants cover "for the entire duration of stay".[4]
  • Dates that match your hotel nights in every country you visit. If you have not booked every night yet, our hotel booking for visa can fill the gap.
  • Dates that agree with your leave letter. The Indian list asks for an "employers' statement on approval for holidays".[4]

How to prepare the flight part of a Poland file

  1. Count nights by country and confirm Poland is the main destination.
  2. Find your Polish post in the table above, or the Gulf mission for your emirate or country.
  3. Book the appointment through VFS (India) or e-Konsulat (Gulf posts). Note the date.
  4. Draft the cover letter with the route, the cities and the transport between them.
  5. Reserve the flight two to four days ahead of the appointment, so the booking is active when you hand it in. Our booking page tells you the hold period before payment.
  6. Open the PNR on the airline's "Manage booking" page, then hold it up against the form line by line. If you have not done this before, read how to verify a reservation before submission.
  7. Print it. Polish posts keep paper files, and your passport stays with them while the case is open.[4]

When should you book, given how long the hold lasts?

Our reservations remain valid for up to two weeks; the precise period is set by the airline, not by us. So we would reserve two to four days before the VFS or embassy visit, and never on the day the slot is confirmed.

Say your Mumbai slot is on 18 November and you fly on 12 December. Book the reservation around 14 to 16 November. It is live when you submit, and the consulate's own 15-day target means a decision should arrive before the hold matters much. If the case runs longer and the consul asks for a fresh copy, rebook for the same dates.

The Abu Dhabi page has a quirk worth knowing. Its booking section repeats the EU rule that you may apply up to six months ahead, yet a note lower down says to apply "not earlier than three months" before travel.[6] If you live in the UAE, stay inside three months to be safe.

Applying from the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar or Saudi Arabia

Every Polish Gulf mission takes applications in person and only from people living in its area. Abu Dhabi needs a valid Emirates ID and a UAE residence visa valid three months beyond your departure from Schengen.[6] Kuwait asks non-Kuwaitis for a Civil ID with the same three-month margin.[7] Doha wants a Qatari ID valid three months after your trip.[8] Riyadh asks most residents for an Iqama valid three months after the trip, an exit and re-entry visa, and six months of bank statements.[9]

Doha adds a money rule that links back to your flight. It asks for 75 PLN for each day of a stay over four days, plus funds for travel that it pegs at not less than 2,500 PLN from outside the EU, and it says the reference is the cost of air tickets including return.[8] That is about showing funds, not about buying the fare. Your bank statement covers it; the reservation shows the route.

For any of these posts, the flight should leave from and return to the Gulf country where you live, not India. In our experience, a return to Dubai or Kuwait City also tells the story of your residence there more neatly than a flight home to India. Our page for Gulf-based Indian expats covers the other paperwork.

Small things that weaken a Poland file

  • A reservation that lapsed because it was booked the day the Mumbai slot opened, weeks before the appointment.
  • No return leg on a Kuwait or UAE file, when both lists name the return flight.[6][7]
  • Insurance from a company not on the approved Indian list, which the checklist links to directly.[4]
  • A cover letter that omits transport, even though item 4 asks for it.[4]
  • Applying through an agent's contact details. The Embassy says intermediaries play no part.[10]
  • A booking in the wrong spelling, such as a dropped surname for a spouse.

Can a Polish consulate check your booking?

Polish missions do not publish how they check flights. Anyone holding your file could type the booking code and surname into the airline's site and see the booking, because a real PNR works that way. An invented booking is a different matter: the Visa Code lists false or forged supporting documents as a ground for refusal, and the Abu Dhabi page warns that forged documents or false information can lead to an entry ban across Schengen.[2][6] We issue real reservations only and never edit or fabricate tickets.

Poland visa flight reservation: questions people ask

Does the Polish Embassy in India want a confirmed ticket?

No. The February 2026 tourism and business checklists from the Embassy in New Delhi and the Consulate in Mumbai ask for proof of intended means of transport and itinerary. A round-trip reservation with a working PNR and the same dates as your form meets that. Buy the actual ticket once the visa is in your passport.

My home is in Hyderabad. Which Polish office decides?

The Embassy's jurisdiction list puts Telangana with the Consulate General in Mumbai. Your papers, though, are handed in at VFS Global. Mumbai releases slots once a month on the last working day, two months ahead, so plan the flight reservation around a date that may be several weeks away.

Is a flight reservation accepted for a Poland visa from Dubai?

Yes. Abu Dhabi's embassy asks for a round flight "preliminary booking/reservation" and advises keeping travel bookings cancellable, since the visa might be refused. You must live in the UAE and hold a valid Emirates ID. The route should start and end in the UAE.

Do I need to show trains from Kraków to Prague?

If Poland is your main destination and you also visit the Czech Republic, yes, show it. The Polish list asks for your itinerary and for lodging in each country, and the Doha list mentions trips to more than one member state. A rail booking or a multi-city flight reservation makes the route easy to follow.

How long does a Poland visa decision take?

The Embassy's page says 15 calendar days from a complete application, extendable to 45 in individual cases. Polish posts also note that some nationalities need prior consultation with other Schengen states, which can add time. Lodge the file 15 days ahead at the very least, and much earlier for June to August or December trips.

My booking lapsed before the decision came. Is that a problem?

Usually nothing, because the document did its job on the day you submitted. If the consulate asks for an updated flight booking, get a new reservation for the same dates and send it through the channel they name. Do not change dates on your own without telling them.

Can I enter Schengen through Germany on a Polish visa?

Yes. A Polish Schengen visa is valid for entry at any external Schengen border, so landing in Frankfurt or Munich and taking a connection to Warsaw is fine. What matters is that Poland remains your main destination by nights or purpose, as you stated when you applied.
