How to do it, start to finish
- Confirm Iceland is your main destination. If you will spend more nights in Norway or France, apply to that country instead.
- Pre-register online on the Directorate of Immigration's visa portal if it is offered for your city.
- Order the reservation: your Indian city to KEF and back, with the dates of your hotel or guesthouse bookings.
- Check the PNR on the airline's Manage booking page with your surname.
- Add intra-Schengen proof if you are combining Iceland with another country, such as a flight Reykjavík → Copenhagen.
- Submit at VFS, then buy actual tickets after the decision.

There is no direct flight from Pune, so the reservation includes connections; the itinerary simply lists them. Two passengers at ₹699 each comes to ₹1,398.
Iceland-specific pitfalls
- Reykjavík has two airports. International flights use Keflavík (KEF). Reykjavík city airport (RKV) is mainly domestic and Greenland flights. A reservation into RKV from India would look wrong.
- Winter road plans. If you hire a car in winter, make sure the accommodation chain actually works along the route on those dates; the officer reads the itinerary as a whole.
- Applying from the Gulf. Residents of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman or Kuwait apply where they live, and Iceland may be represented there by another Schengen state. Check on the Directorate of Immigration site which mission handles your country.
- Gulf pricing. Booking from the UAE costs AED 33, from Saudi Arabia SAR 34, from Oman OMR 3.5 and from Kuwait KWD 2.75 per passenger.
