Dummy Ticket for Visa in Doha: Visa Centres, QID Rules and Flight Wording for Residents

If you live in Doha, you can order a flight reservation with a live PNR for QAR 33 per passenger, delivered by email in about 10 minutes. Most Schengen files go to BLS (Spain) or VFS Global (Italy, Germany, Netherlands) in the city. Their flight wording differs: the Netherlands needs no paid ticket, while Spain's list says "Flight ticket".

Doha is where Qatar's visa paperwork actually happens. If you live in West Bay, Al Sadd, Bin Mahmoud or Old Airport, the European visa centres are a short drive away, and the US Embassy is in the city too. This page is written for people who live in Doha, most of them expatriates on a Qatar residence permit, and who are applying for a visa to travel somewhere else. We go through the centres that serve you, what each official checklist says about flights, the residence-permit conditions that trip people up, and how a reservation from Hamad International fits into the file. We are an online service; there is no DummyTicketPrice desk in Doha.

Where do Doha residents hand in a visa application?

Almost always at an outsourced centre in the city, not at the embassy itself. Each European country picks its own provider, and two of them sit in West Bay towers within sight of each other.

Spain uses BLS International. Its Doha office is on the 10th floor of Al Reem Tower on Al Wahda Street, opposite the InterContinental, and it opens Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.[8] Passports come back between 2 pm and 3 pm on working days, so plan a lunchtime pickup.

Italy sends short-stay applicants to VFS Global in Gate Mall Tower 3 on Mayasaloun Street. The embassy keeps a few categories for itself, such as study visas and family members of EU citizens.[10]

Germany also works through VFS Global in Doha. You book the slot online, and the embassy asks you to apply with it only when Germany, Austria or Slovenia is your main destination.[4] The German embassy warns that the busiest months are May to August, which matches what you would guess from the summer exodus.

The Netherlands uses VFS in Doha as well, and states that you may submit there only if Qatar is where you live.[11]

We could not confirm current centre details for every Schengen state, the UK or France on an official page this month, so they are not in the table. Look up the embassy of your destination in Doha before you book anything.

What do the Doha checklists say about flights?

They do not agree with each other, and that is the single most useful thing to know. Here is the wording, quoted from each mission's own page or form.

DestinationExact flight wordingSourceWhat we would submit
Spain"Flight ticket (maximum 90 days trip. Travel date must not be more than 6 months from application date)"BLS Spain checklist for non-Qatari residents[9]Ask BLS whether a reservation is enough; if in doubt, a refundable fare

Spain is the one to read twice. The word on the BLS list is "ticket", and the same list says the hotel booking should match the arrival and departure dates on that ticket.[9] A held reservation shows those dates clearly, but it is not a paid ticket, and we will not pretend otherwise. If the BLS counter tells you a reservation will do, use one. If they say paid, buy a fare you can cancel.

How long must your QID be valid?

Longer than most people expect. Each mission sets its own minimum, and they are written in different ways.

  • Germany: proof of legal residence in Qatar valid for at least three months beyond the date you leave the Schengen area.[5] VFS's Germany page adds that residents must have been staying in Qatar for six consecutive months.[7]
  • Spain: the Qatar residence permit must be valid for at least three months, with a copy of both sides, plus a "To Whom it May Concern" certificate issued in English through the Metrash app.[9]
  • Germany's 2021 form put it as a permit valid at least up to your return to Qatar.[6]

Our advice is simple. If your QID renewal falls anywhere near the trip, renew first and apply second. A reservation can be reordered in ten minutes; a residence permit cannot.

Applying from Doha this month?

QAR 33 per traveller. Expect the PDF roughly 10 minutes after paying; look the PNR up yourself on the carrier's website.

Do you need a flight booking for a US or UK visa from Doha?

No, for both. The US Embassy in Qatar wants nonimmigrant interviews booked where you live or where your passport is from, and its visa page currently says only limited processing is available in Doha.[14] Some Doha residents therefore end up applying elsewhere. Whichever post you use, the State Department's line is to hold off buying tickets until the visa is issued.[15]

For the UK, GOV.UK places flight bookings among documents that do not help a visitor application, unless you are only transiting.[13] We would leave it out and spend the effort on bank statements and a clear employer letter.

Which routes from Hamad International look natural?

Pick a route that a Doha resident would really fly. Hamad's airline-partner directory includes Qatar Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Iberia, Finnair and Turkish Airlines for Europe, and Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Pakistan International Airlines, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Philippine Airlines, SriLankan Airlines and Nepal Airlines for home routes.[2]

For a Spanish file, a Doha to Madrid or Barcelona itinerary on Qatar Airways or via a European hub looks ordinary. For Germany, Frankfurt or Munich. For the Netherlands, Amsterdam. Our view: keep it nonstop where one exists, and keep the return into DOH, because the officer wants to see you coming back to the job in Qatar.

Anything to check before you leave Qatar?

Yes, one thing. Hamad International's immigration page tells departing passengers to consult the Ministry of Interior eServices portal to find out whether they need an exit permit.[3] Check this when you plan the trip, not on the morning of departure, and talk to your HR team if you are unsure.

Example: a nurse in Al Sadd applying for Spain

Say Maria, a Filipino nurse living in Al Sadd, wants ten days in Barcelona in mid-December. Her appointment at BLS in Al Reem Tower is on 18 November.

A few weeks earlier she pulls the Metrash certificate and checks her QID has well over three months left.[9] She reads the BLS list, sees the word "ticket", and calls the BLS helpline to ask whether a reservation is acceptable. Suppose they say a reservation with a booking reference is fine. She orders one from us on 15 November, Doha to Barcelona and back, on dates that match her hotel booking night for night. If they had insisted on a paid ticket, she would have bought a refundable fare instead. Either way, her leave letter, insurance and hotel carry exactly the same dates.

A second example: an engineer in West Bay going to Germany

Picture Imran, a Pakistani engineer in West Bay, flying to Munich for a trade fair in March. He has lived in Qatar for three years, so the six-month residence rule is no issue.[7] His file goes through VFS Doha to the German Embassy.[4]

The current German list asks for a confirmed hotel and does not name a flight.[5] He still adds a reservation, because it shows the trip has a clear start and end, but he labels it as a reservation in his cover letter. We would order it three or four days before the VFS slot.

Ordering from Doha, step by step

  1. Find your mission and its current checklist for your visa type.
  2. Read the flight line word for word. "Reservation" and "ticket" are not the same request.
  3. Open our booking page and enter DOH, your destination and dates, with each name exactly as printed in the passport.
  4. Pay QAR 33 per passenger by card through our Razorpay checkout; UPI and netbanking also work if you hold an Indian bank account.
  5. Check your inbox about 10 minutes later, including spam.
  6. Look the PNR up on the airline's "Manage booking" page. Our verification guide shows how.

To chase an order, use order tracking. Other currencies are on the price page.

When should a Doha applicant order it?

In the same week as the appointment. Our holds last a fortnight at the very most; the carrier picks the real length, and some drop sooner. Ordering the day you get a summer slot in April is a waste; by the time the officer opens the file, the hold may have lapsed. If the embassy asks for an update later, order a fresh one then.

What goes in the folder on appointment day?

For the travel part of a Doha file, keep it tidy and consistent rather than thick.

  • The reservation printout, one page per booking, with every traveller's name readable.
  • Your QID copy, both sides, since the Spanish list asks for front and back.[9]
  • The employer letter or salary certificate, issued within the past month, as the German and Spanish lists ask.[5][9]
  • Hotel confirmations and insurance covering exactly the nights between your outbound and return flights.

The evening before, open the PNR on the airline's website once more. If a schedule change has moved a flight by a day, you want to know at home in Al Sadd, not at the counter in West Bay. Print a spare copy too; counters sometimes keep one.

Mistakes we see from Doha applicants

  • A QID close to expiry. Several Doha missions set a minimum validity, so renew first.
  • Treating "ticket" as "reservation". Ask the centre when the wording is unclear.
  • A one-way itinerary out of DOH. Residents applying from Qatar should show the return.
  • Edited or generated PDFs. If the airline cannot find the booking, nor can the visa officer.
  • Different dates on hotel and flight. Spain's list asks for them to match.

Doha FAQ

Do you have an office in Doha?

No. DummyTicketPrice works only online, so there is no counter in West Bay or anywhere else in Qatar. You order on our website, pay QAR 33 per traveller by card through Razorpay, and receive the reservation PDF by email, usually within about 10 minutes. You can print it at home or at a print shop near your visa centre.

Will BLS Spain in Doha accept a reservation instead of a ticket?

The BLS checklist for non-Qatari residents uses the word "Flight ticket", so we cannot promise a reservation will do. Ask BLS directly before your appointment. If they accept a reservation with a booking reference, ours shows one that you can check on the airline's site. If they want a paid ticket, buy a refundable fare instead.

Does the German Embassy in Doha need a flight booking?

Its current tourism checklist does not list one; it asks for confirmed hotel bookings, insurance, bank statements and an employer letter. An older visit checklist from 2021 asked for a "Valid & confirmed flight reservation". When the two differ, follow the current page, and add a reservation only if you want to show your dates clearly.

Can I apply for a Schengen visa from Doha if I moved here recently?

It depends on the country. VFS's Germany page says residents must have been staying in Qatar for six consecutive months. The Netherlands accepts applications in Doha only from people who live in Qatar. If you arrived recently, check your destination's rule before booking a slot, or apply in your previous country of residence.

How much does a reservation cost in Doha?

QAR 33 per passenger, whether one way or round trip. A multi-city itinerary is charged per pair of legs. A family of four applying together pays for four passengers, all on one booking if you wish. Payment is online by card, and UPI or netbanking also work for anyone with an Indian bank account.

Can I board a flight at Hamad with your reservation?

No. The seat sits under a live PNR, yet no fare has been paid, so Hamad's check-in desks will turn it away. Once your visa is issued, buy the actual ticket for the dates on your visa. Many people buy the same route they used on the reservation, but nothing obliges you to.

How long will the reservation stay live?

At most a fortnight, and the carrier chooses the actual hold, which may be briefer. That is why we suggest ordering in the week of your appointment. Should BLS or VFS move your slot, or the embassy want fresh dates, buy a replacement nearer the time instead of leaning on the first one.

Please note: no flight document wins a visa on its own. Call it a reservation on every form, keep the dates in line with the rest of the file, and leave the decision to the consulate.
