SpiceJet is one of the airlines Indian travellers know best, and it turns up in plenty of short international trip plans as well as domestic ones. When people ask us for a SpiceJet reservation, they usually want one of two things: a flight plan to attach to a visa application, or proof of a return flight for an airline check-in desk. Both are reasonable. What trips people up is the detail, such as how SpiceJet's own fare hold works, how unforgiving its name rules are, and what each destination really asks to see. This guide covers all of that from SpiceJet's pages and official government sources, listed at the end.
SpiceJet basics before you build your file
| Question | What the official source says |
|---|---|
| How do you find a booking? | On spicejet.com under Manage Bookings (My Trips), using the PNR and last name, or the email option.[1][3] |
| Can you hold a fare? | SpiceLock holds a fare for 48 hours: ₹149 with names or ₹249 without on international flights, ₹99 or ₹199 on domestic.[2] |
| When is SpiceLock available? | For departures at least 15 days away on international routes and at least 7 days away on domestic routes.[2] |
| Name corrections | One letter in the first or last name, once only; free within 24 hours, then INR 500 domestic or INR 1,000 international. Full name changes are not allowed.[3] |
| Passport rule for international flights | Six months' validity from the date of travel, plus a valid visa.[3] |
| Our price | ₹699 per person for one-way or return in India, $9 for buyers abroad. |
Can you hold a SpiceJet fare for a visa application?
For two days, yes. SpiceJet's SpiceLock add-on holds the fare you see for 48 hours from the moment you lock it. You pick the "Hold Fare Now" option on the search page, on the website or the app.[2]
The fee depends on route type and on whether you add names. International locks cost ₹149 with passenger names or ₹249 without; domestic locks cost ₹99 or ₹199. Names must be added before you confirm, and SpiceJet says name changes aren't permitted on hold bookings. If you don't pay in 48 hours, the held fare is released and the fee is forfeited. The fee is refunded only if SpiceJet's own operations are disrupted.[2]
SpiceJet's general booking FAQ also describes a pay-later hold of up to 24 hours for bookings made at least three clear days before departure, cancelled automatically if unpaid.[3] The two pages don't describe exactly the same product, so check which option the booking screen offers you on the day.
Either way, the hold is measured in hours. A visa appointment is usually days away, and a decision takes longer still. These holds are good for one thing: pausing a purchase you have already decided to make. They aren't built to sit in a visa file.
A reservation from us is meant for that stage. Each traveller appears on a held booking with a working PNR, delivered to your inbox in around 10 minutes, priced at ₹699 a person. It isn't a ticket and won't freeze a fare. How long it survives is the airline's decision, never beyond 2 weeks, so time it near the date somebody will look.
How strict are SpiceJet's name rules?
Very. SpiceJet allows a name correction only once, and only for one letter in either the first or last name, such as changing "ee" to "i". Corrections are free within 24 hours of booking and cost INR 500 on domestic or INR 1,000 on international bookings after that. A complete name change isn't possible. Initials stay as single letters and can't be expanded into full names. A title correction is free, but once it is made no further name correction is allowed.[3]
That matters more for your real ticket than for a reservation, but the lesson is the same: get the names right before anything is issued.
- Copy names from the passport, not from an Aadhaar card or an old booking.
- No initials if the passport spells the name out. SpiceJet won't expand them later.
- Surname in the surname field. Many lookup failures come from swapping first and last names.
- Single-name passports. Tell us how the passport reads, and use the same form on your visa application.
Our name format guide has examples for common Indian name patterns.
Which trips does a SpiceJet reservation fit?
SpiceJet runs some international routes alongside its domestic network, but the list has changed a lot over the past few years, and we couldn't confirm a current international route list on an official SpiceJet page this month. Before you ask for a SpiceJet reservation, search your route on spicejet.com to make sure the airline actually flies it on your dates. A reservation on a route the airline doesn't serve won't exist, and if it somehow appeared in a file, it would raise questions.
If SpiceJet doesn't fly your route, don't force it. The officer cares that the flight plan is realistic and matches your dates, not which airline it is on. We can hold the itinerary on a carrier that does fly it.
For long-haul visas such as Schengen, the UK or the US, SpiceJet is rarely the natural choice. Our Air India guide and Schengen visa guide are better starting points for those.
What do common SpiceJet destinations ask for?
Two rules come up most for the kind of trips SpiceJet passengers take: Thailand's visa exemption and the UAE tourist visa. Both are about how you leave the country.
| Destination | Official wording | Does a held reservation fit? |
|---|---|---|
| Thailand | 30-day visa exemption for Indian passport holders from 15 September 2026.[4] Exempt arrivals must be able to show onward travel "scheduled within 30 days".[5] | It shows a planned exit. The airline at check-in and Thai immigration decide what they accept. |
| UAE (Dubai) | GDRFA's single-entry tourist visa terms mention "a ticket to leave UAE".[6] | The wording asks for a ticket, so a held reservation may not satisfy it. Ask your sponsor first. |
| Any international SpiceJet flight | SpiceJet requires six months' passport validity from the travel date and a valid visa.[3] | Not about flights, but check-in staff will check both. |
The Thailand case is the one we'd plan for most carefully. If you fly SpiceJet one way into Thailand under the exemption, have evidence of how you'll leave within 30 days. Check-in staff in India may look at this before they let you board. Our Thailand guide and check-in versus immigration explain how those checks differ.
For Dubai, it depends on who files your visa. A hotel, travel agent or relative acting as sponsor will tell you what they need. When their list or GDRFA's says ticket, plan to buy a ticket. Our UAE visa guide covers the main channels.
Need a SpiceJet itinerary for your file?
Names, route, live PNR: emailed in roughly 10 minutes for ₹699 each.
How do you check a SpiceJet reservation on spicejet.com?
SpiceJet's lookup page is labelled My Trips. Choose "Using Name" to retrieve a booking with the PNR and last name.[1]
- Open spicejet.com and click Manage Bookings at the foot of the page, or go straight to the My Trips page.
- Select "Using Name" under View / Add Itinerary.
- Enter the PNR exactly as on your reservation.
- Enter the last name spelled as on the booking, then press Fetch Booking.
- Check and save. Compare names, dates and flight numbers with your application, and keep a dated screenshot.
If nothing comes back, check the surname spelling and spacing first. If the reservation was made on a different airline, look it up on that airline's site. SpiceJet's FAQ also lists its reservations numbers, +91 (0)124 4983410 and +91 (0)124 7101600, for help locating a booking.[3] Our verification walkthrough covers more troubleshooting.
SpiceLock, a reservation from us or a paid fare?
Here's how the choices compare for one adult on a Delhi–Dubai round trip.
| Option | Cost | How long it lasts | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Held reservation from us | ₹699 per passenger | Never more than 2 weeks; airline's choice | Falls short where the rule says ticket. |
| SpiceLock | ₹149 with names, ₹249 without[2] | 48 hours | Only for departures 15+ days away; fee kept if unused. |
| Paid SpiceJet fare | Full fare | Until travel | Changes need 4 hours' notice on international flights; fees apply.[3] |
If you know you're going and like the fare, SpiceLock is cheap insurance for a couple of days. If your visa or leave isn't sorted, a reservation keeps your options open at low cost. If the rule you face says ticket, buy one with change terms you can accept.
What changes once you buy the real SpiceJet ticket?
After the visa arrives, you buy the trip you actually want, on SpiceJet or any other airline. If it is SpiceJet, three points from its own pages are worth knowing before you pay.
First, deadlines for changes. SpiceJet's FAQ says changes and cancellations must be made at least 2 hours before departure on domestic flights and 4 hours before on international ones, and it adds INR 250 per passenger when the change is done through the call centre or an airport counter.[3] Do it online if you can.
Second, schedule changes. SpiceJet's home page offers a tool called Change Assist for choosing an alternate flight or a refund when the airline has changed or cancelled your flight.[7] If your visa dates are tight, check the booking a week before travel so a retimed flight doesn't push you outside the period you were granted.
Third, the name rule. Because only one letter can be corrected, once, buy the ticket with the passport open in front of you. That small habit saves more money than any fare sale.
And keep the dates consistent with what you told the consulate. Small shifts are normal and nobody expects a reservation to match the final ticket to the minute, but a trip twice as long as the visa you asked for invites questions next time you apply.
When should you book the reservation?
Just before it's needed. Say you fly to Bangkok on Friday morning and want proof of your return flight for check-in. We'd order the reservation on Wednesday or Thursday and look it up on spicejet.com, or on the holding airline's site, before you leave home.
For visa applications, aim for one or two days before the appointment. Travel dates should be your real ones. A stay longer than an exemption allows, or a return after your visa ends, is the first thing an officer will notice.
What goes wrong with SpiceJet itineraries?
- Routes SpiceJet doesn't fly. Always search the route on spicejet.com first.
- Initials on the booking, full names in the passport. SpiceJet won't expand initials later.
- Treating SpiceLock as a visa document. It ends in 48 hours.
- A return beyond 30 days on a Thailand exemption trip.
- Edited PDFs. Never alter a reservation; ask for a new one.
How to get a SpiceJet-route reservation from us
Use the booking form: route, dates and each passenger's name from the passport. Put "SpiceJet" in the notes if you'd like that airline. Availability varies by route and day, so message us first if a particular carrier matters.
You pay per person, single or return alike; for multi-stop trips each couple of legs is charged once. Checkout runs on Razorpay (UPI, cards, netbanking), and order tracking keeps you posted. More on dummy ticket price, flight reservation for visa and onward ticket. Need accommodation proof as well? See hotel booking for visa.
Please note: we provide a reservation, not an outcome. Consulates, airlines and immigration officers each make their own decision.
SpiceJet reservation questions
Is a SpiceJet dummy ticket a real SpiceJet booking?
SpiceJet's system does hold it, PNR and all, yet the fare stays unpaid, so it won't get you on a plane. That's why we call it a reservation. Submit it where an itinerary is requested; book the paid seat after the trip is certain.
How do I find my booking on spicejet.com?
Go to Manage Bookings, which opens My Trips. Choose "Using Name", then enter the PNR and the passenger's last name, and press Fetch Booking. If you get no result, check the surname spelling and whether the name was entered in the right order.
Is SpiceLock enough for a visa appointment?
Rarely. It holds the fare for 48 hours and is only offered for international departures at least 15 days away. Most appointments and decisions take longer than two days, and once the lock lapses the booking is gone. It suits a purchase you have already decided on.
Can I fix a spelling mistake on a SpiceJet booking?
Once, and only one letter. SpiceJet allows a single one-letter correction in the first or last name, free within 24 hours and charged afterwards: INR 500 domestic or INR 1,000 international. Full name changes aren't allowed, so check spellings against the passport before paying.
Do I need a return flight to fly SpiceJet to Thailand?
Under Thailand's exemption, you need to show you'll leave inside 30 days. The airline may ask for it at check-in in India, and Thai immigration may ask on arrival. Carry evidence of how you leave. Whether a reservation is accepted is up to the airline and the officer.
SpiceJet doesn't fly my route. Can I still get a reservation?
Yes, on an airline that does. What matters to an officer is a realistic plan matching your dates and route. Tell us the route on the booking form and we'll hold it on a carrier that serves it, or message us first if you have a preference.
