Dummy Flight Ticket with a British Airways PNR for Your Visa
Yes, you can show a British Airways itinerary in a visa file without buying the fare. We hold seats on BA-operated flights where they are available and email the PDF in about 10 minutes. You then open the booking reference with your surname on ba.com. It is a reservation, not a paid ticket.

Three facts about British Airways that matter for a visa file
- Home hub: London Heathrow (LHR). oneworld describes Heathrow as BA's home base and major hub, so most long-haul BA itineraries from India, the Gulf or Africa route through it. Source: oneworld.com.
- Alliance: BA is a founding member of oneworld, alongside partners such as American Airlines, Qatar Airways and Finnair. A oneworld codeshare can carry a BA flight number while another carrier operates the aircraft. Source: oneworld.com.
- Manage My Booking: BA's help pages ask for two things: the booking reference (six letters and numbers) and the passenger's last name. Source: britishairways.com.
Last checked: October 2026. ba.com was showing a high-demand holding page during our check, so we confirmed the Manage My Booking wording through BA's indexed help pages.
How a consular officer might check a BA reservation
Officers rarely ring the airline. When they do check, the quickest route is the one any passenger uses: open ba.com, choose Manage My Booking, then type the six-character reference and the surname from your PDF. If the record is still held, the flights, dates and passenger names appear on screen.
That is why the surname on the reservation must be spelt exactly as on your passport. A missing middle name rarely matters for the lookup, which uses the last name only, but a swapped first and last name will make the record look absent.
Two references on one PDF?
Reservations made through an agency system sometimes carry an agency locator as well as the airline's own reference. The airline reference is the one ba.com recognises. Our PDF labels which is which, and support can point it out on WhatsApp if you are unsure.
Worked example: Mumbai to London for a UK Standard Visitor visa
Ananya plans a two-week family visit to London in December. Her sister's invitation letter mentions 14 to 28 December, and the UK online form asks for planned arrival and departure dates.
- She books a return reservation BOM–LHR on BA flights for 14 and 28 December, the same dates as the invitation.
- The PDF arrives by email. She opens Manage My Booking with the reference and IYER, and sees both sectors listed.
- She attaches the PDF to her supporting documents and keeps a copy in her phone for the appointment.
- Only after the visa is granted does she buy the actual fare, on whichever airline then offers the best price.
The reservation cost her ₹699. Had she bought a refundable BA fare instead, the cancellation terms would depend on that fare's rules.
When a BA itinerary is a sensible choice, and when it is not
| Your situation | BA itinerary? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| UK visit visa from India or the Gulf | Good fit | Non-stop or one-stop routings into Heathrow are common and easy to read. |
| Schengen trip starting in London | Often fits | BA serves many European cities from Heathrow and London City. |
| Trip to a city BA does not fly to | Choose another airline | A route that needs awkward connections looks less like a real plan. |
| Proof of onward travel at check-in | Ask the airline | Check-in staff follow the destination's entry rules, which may require a paid ticket. |
BA itself sells a paid option to hold a fare for a limited time; see its "Hold your flight price" page if you prefer to deal with the airline directly.
Mistakes we see with British Airways reservations
- Asking for a specific BA flight number on a day it does not operate. We will suggest the nearest BA departure instead.
- Assuming every "BA" flight number is flown by BA. Codeshares on partner aircraft are fine for a visa file, but the operating carrier is printed on the PDF.
- Checking the reference on a third-party site and panicking when it fails. Use ba.com first.
- Booking the reservation weeks before the appointment. The hold window is shown before you pay, so time the order close to your submission date.
British Airways reservation questions
Can I check my reservation on the British Airways website?
Yes, while the hold is active. Go to Manage My Booking on ba.com and enter the six-character booking reference with the passenger's last name exactly as printed on the PDF.
Is a British Airways reservation the same as a BA paid ticket?
No. a paid ticket has a 13-digit ticket number and means the fare is paid. A reservation only holds the seats, so it cannot be used to check in or board.
Can you put a oneworld partner flight on the itinerary?
Yes. If BA does not operate your route on the dates you need, we can use a partner flight or a different airline, and the operating carrier is shown on the PDF.
What does a British Airways reservation cost here?
₹699 per passenger in India, £7 in the UK and $9 elsewhere, for one way or return. The hold window appears on the booking page before you pay.

Dummy ticket price by country
The price follows the country of your phone number, not the destination. One way and round trip cost the same; multi-city itineraries are priced per pair of flights and a hotel booking costs the same per stay.
| Phone number from | Flight reservation |
|---|---|
| India | ₹699 per passenger |
| United Arab Emirates | AED 33 per passenger |
| Saudi Arabia | SAR 34 per passenger |
| Qatar | QAR 33 per passenger |
| Oman | OMR 3.5 per passenger |
| Kuwait | KWD 2.75 per passenger |
| United States and Canada | $9 per passenger |
| United Kingdom | £7 per passenger |
| Everywhere else | $9 per passenger |
Paid through Razorpay by UPI, card or netbanking. The reservation is emailed in about 10 minutes and stays valid for up to 2 weeks; the airline decides the exact period, so book close to your appointment.
What you receive
The same itinerary format the airline itself sends, with a six-character booking reference (PNR) that resolves on the airline's "Manage booking" page. Every reservation shows:
- Passenger names exactly as on the passport
- Airline, flight numbers, dates and times
- Live PNR / booking reference you can check yourself
- Departure and arrival airports
- Class of travel and baggage allowance
Watch: how to book a dummy ticket
A short walkthrough of the booking page, 1 minute 23 seconds with voice-over: enter your route and passengers, pay, and receive your reservation with its PNR by email.
- Route and passengers. Choose one way, round trip or multi-city, pick the airports and dates, and enter names as on the passport.
- Pay. UPI, cards or netbanking through Razorpay.
- Receive your PNR. The reservation arrives by email in about 10 minutes.
Why a live reservation beats a free "ticket generator"
A generated ticket has no PNR. A visa officer who checks it finds nothing, and a refusal for a false document is the hardest kind to appeal.
| What the embassy checks | DummyTicketPrice | Free "ticket generator" | Buying a real ticket |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNR resolves on the airline website | Yes: a live reservation | No PNR | Yes |
| Cost per passenger | ₹699 / $9 | Free | The full fare at risk |
| Delivery | About 10 minutes by email | Instant | Instant |
| If the visa is refused | Only the ₹699 / $9 fee | Refusal for false documents | Cancellation fees |
| Order accuracy | Issued exactly as entered; check before paying | — | Change fees |
